JBJ 28 Gallon Nano Owners Club

Right now, in the center is just a piece of foam in the middle chamber. I plan on leaving the top empty, because my kalk top off and chiller output end up in the top compartment. Yes, that is the Tunze 9002. PM me with you email and I can email you some more photos. I turned the output of the CPR past 90 degrees and added a 1 1/2" barbed elbow to direct the flow into the right heater chamber. The input side I added vinyl tubing to put the CPR pump just about on top of the JBJ pump, so I have enough room for my top float switches...

Has anyone here added a refugium to their tank? I want to add a 5gal or so (whatever will fit in my stand) to my tank. If you have done this could you give me some tips or some pics???

Thanks
Ron:fish1:

P.S. I have the JBJ CF Quad 28gal tank.

Very cool what size return pump do you use? Was it hard to drill the side?

man i am trying the same

man i am trying the same

I have a sump box from my old 125. I am trying to mod this to be used on the exact tank you have. I am so confused on what i half to do at the back to have the water drain into box and what to do to connect the water your blowing back in. i have no idea what to do and i am trying to do this today. I get off work and dont have internet access today at 530. 03/04/10. If anybody wants to call me later to help walk me threw this that would be wonderful. I would be in debt to anybody how called and let me know how to do this. My phone # is 515-249-4918. Thanks or just pm me with an idiots instruction to sump box. Lol Pllleeeasse. I need more water volume to get my water quality better. Thanks in advance

This probably should have been a PM, for your own safety - might not want to put your phone number (or credit card, address, or social security number) in a public post

Yeah lol thanks. Im kind of trusting probably to a fault. But i get off work at 530 and I dont have internet access and really worried about doing this. I pretty much have a good idea of what to do but. How is every one running the return line and they runnin the return line threw a new drilled hole in the back or are they just going over the rear chamber and connecting to the exsisting nozel or ??? Im confused on the hole return line.

Filtration Solutions

Filtration Solutions

Let's do a round of discussion on filtering solutions. I know a couple of guys on here are running the little Sapphire nano media filter - but I'm more interested to see what other solutions we have. Are you using the factory center compartment, if so have you modded it? Are you running a media sock(s) in the back/sumps/fuge or maybe even using an external canister? If so what media are you running and how often are you changing it?

I'm of the mindset that the Sapphire nano is nice (and fits in the 2nd chamber) but it's an extra pump in the tank and doesn't offer much media space. What external canister filters are people using?

I placed my Warner Marine H1 in the third and fourth compartments of my nano. I imagine I will place the pump for my chiller in the first compartment just above the return pump. I would like to daisy chain a phosphate reactor inline with the chiller if possible. At this point I am not sure which pump I should use for the chiller. I need 300-700 gph flow but I am not sure how much head pressure that will add. Also, I'm not exactly sure how I should set my temperature up. I want my water temp to be 79 degrees so should I set my heater and chiller both to 79 degrees?

Here is a FTS and a shot of my Warner Marine H1 skimmate after 36 hours.

The wife and I went to Midwest Reefs today and found a Helfrichi's Fire Fish. She was a beauty and Steve is going to hold her until after our tank cycles. I know they are skiddish and cannot be with any type of aggressive fish but her tank mate will eventually be a Randall's goby and possibly some pink Skunks. Besides for feeding her frozen mysis, brine or other meaty foods what other types of food can you feed them?

so, is that the drain line and then you just pump the return over the top into the top area.

Just started up my 28g JBJ HQI

Just started up my 28g JBJ HQI

Hi guys, I'm adding in my newly established 28g Nano HQI. So far its just rocks and sand(10 lbs base, 15 pounds LR, 20 lbs sand) but the cycle seems to be going well. Everything is stock. Just using sponge and carbon in the media basket at the moment with some rubble in the middle chamber. Hoping to add a small CUC later this week, then some starter corals and maybe a sand moving fish. Any suggestions for stocking list or tank tips happily accepted.

pH = 8.2
Ammonia = .25
Nitrite = 1
Nitrate = 10
Calcium = 400
phosphate = 0
Temp = 79.9

Sonofred, your tank seems to be doing well.

I did a few tests today and here are the results.

Ammonia .50
PH 7.8
Nitrite .50
Nitrate 10

I wasn't able to test for calcium, phosphate or Dkh as I don't have anymore of those test kits right now.

I just downgraded from a 75 to the nano and need to get an ato. I want to pick up the jbj ato, but I would like to know what exactly I would need after placing my order to get it running properly. Does it come with tubing etc?

The JBJ does not come with any additional tubing other than what is already hooked up to the stock pumps. It also does not come with a heater.

To hook up your ATO, buy a Aqualifter pump and some airline tubing. I made my own top off reservoir out of a well-rinsed orange juice bottle.
