JBJ 28 Gallon Nano Owners Club

i called JBJ today since my dusk/dawn LED's had stopped working unless i give it the ol' ghetto tap which makes them flicker. JBJ is aware of the problem as the dusk/dawn were never designed to be on all day but they have an upgraded version covered under warranty.

just a friendly FYI

Strange, what is the programming mechanism for turning them off during the day (and on during dusk/dawn cycles). Are they controlled on a separate outlet?

They are each controlled by their own power cord with the daylights having a powersupply. the Dawn/dusk were designed to run 2 hours before and after the daylights. but everyone including myself uses them for actinic lighting and they are on the longest. I use a simple wall timer to control my lighting. The Customer Service Rep said they get too hot and it damages the circuit board/diode and they will send a replacement that will plug in where the old ones come out.

glad they updated it so they will last being on all day.

Hey everyone, just joined the JBJ 28 Nano Club. I just picked up the LED version from AquaCave during their New Year's 10% off sale. I also picked up a Tunze 9002 skimmer for the center chamber and I'll be hooking my AquaController Jr. to it once I sell my 90 gallon tank and no longer need it for that. I've also been reading through this entire thread and I've just finished the first two of the three splits. I'll be working on the 3rd split to catch up with real time and I'll try to post a few pics as the tank clears up.
Glad to be part of the club guys. Great thread!

Here's a picture or two of the new tank. Still cloudy but getting there.

Interesting. I spoke with a JBJ customer service rep (very nice btw) who kinda refuted the above statement, essentially saying there wasn't a dusk/dawn upgrade available at this time and there were no plans at this time to offer one...

Guess time will tell. I for one would keep the dusk/dawn on all day for the blue hue appearance.

Took a shot of the tank last night before bed, the water had cleared up a bit by then so you can pretty much see the aquascape below. I'll take another shot and post it tomorrow since the water is now clear.

Hello all! I got my tank yesterday, sand and rocks are in, everything is running. Water was still cloudy a bit when I got up this morning, I thought for sure it would be clear, so I'm going to do a small water change. Also, I don't know if the flow is working properly, seems like there is too much water in the back, I'll take a pic.

Ok, so obviously I don't know how to post pics, can someone help? I have the pics in my RC photo album, I guess I don't know how to get them from the album to here.

looked at your pictures and wow yes you've way overfilled. if your pumps turn off you're going to flood. get the water level down in the back baffle area to about 4" down

Everything's kind of unorganized, but I'm just getting started.
Here's my JBJ 28g LED at 4 months. I'm pretty sure I'll be moving
out some livestock and that crazy torch soon, so I can make
room for more corals.

I love your tank!!! I love the aquascaping, the corals and the fish. I also love that noone ripped on you for having Dori in there. I want to do the same thing with a regal, and just trade it in when it gets too big, but I'm afraid of people ripping on me! Your tanks really looks fantastic! Keep up the great work, I may be following in your footsteps.

Nevermind, I fixed it!! Now, I am not using any kind of filter(sponge) and I have a lot of debreis floating around, will this settle, or should I put some of the sponge that came with the tank in?

I took the media basket out and put a nylon bag of phosphate remover and a bag of activiated carbon, then put a rolled up strip of blue/white bonded filter media on top of it.

Love your tank!! just got my 28 gal nano cube LED tank and will fill it with water today and start it up. Never had an aquarium before but can't wait to get going.

Maybe it's not an "upgrade" just that they had "upgraded" the circuit board due to this issue. I will be requesting a replacement today and when i get it i will post a walk through. Interesting none the least geezers

Hi,

I have two questions:

1. Anyone here who has experience with the Tunze Osmolator in the Nanocube?
2. Are there (HQI) Nanocubes with carpet anemones out there?

Regards,

Marcel
