JBJ 28 Gallon Nano Owners Club

Hey NYVM, what pumps are you currently running and is that a korilla 425 in there? I have about the same setup, and my water seems to always have little particles floating in it.. Think I might need more circulation.

Currently running the inTank media basket with Filter Floss, Purigen and Chemi Pure.

Hey guys new to the Nano cubes, Had a 90g a few years back, Wife said no to a big tank so here I am, Question on my skimmer, I have the JBJ 28g and not sure what the name of the skimmer is, it came with it, Where should the bubbles be popping at, Just below the Cone, I have the air up almost full to get them just above the tube, Also what should the water level be, Right now it's about a inch below the black dividing wall that separates all the compartments,

The water level makes no difference as the level in the skimmer chamber doesn't change. The only adjustments you have are the height of the skimmer in the chamber and the amount of air. I set mine so that the bubbles pop about 1/2-3/4 inch into the cone. That should give you a nice foam and decent skim.

I have tried that but the only way to achieve that is to force that Skimmer collection box down wedged between the Lid hinge other wise I cant seem to get the bubbles to reach the cone, I know that's not how they intended it to fit, I have my pump all the way up, When I force it down then I get bubbles

I posted this earlier but no responses. I have found a few threads but nothing really recent. What's the best skimmer on the market for the 28 atm? I had a tunze 9002 but the pump recently went out and I'm looking for something new. I didn't really care for the tunze occupying the whole middle compartment and thought it really impeded water flow and caused a build-up of detritus in the back chambers. I'm seriously considering the aqua-maxx hob-1 but am looking for any input

Have you thought about running skimmerless? I have been skimmerless for the past 5-6 years and just do a water change every week on my nanocube. All sps are flourishing. If you don't plan to do water changes every week then I'd say go for a skimmer.

I have but I like to be afforded the ability to not change the water so often as I can have a pretty crazy schedule.

Mods please forgive me for bringing this up in this thread, but I have a brand new in box reef octopus hang-on-back skimmer I'd part ways with if you're interested.

I bought it because I thought I broke my HOB-1 skimmer beyond repair, but was able to fix it.

Just PM me.

hi everyone. im new to the nanocube. curious what do you guys use the center container for. what do you put in it. just floss. or what would be good. thanks in advance.

First chamber - Media basket with filter floss, purigen, and chemipure
Second chamber - heater
Third chamber - return

JBJ 24gal here....I put my heater in the 3rd chamber, but when I put my finger in the main tank....the water seems a bit cold.

I got the heater set at 80 degrees.

Are you noticing this as well?

I upgraded to the intank media basket for the center chamber as its larger. Floss on top, rowaphos in the middle section and chemipure elite in the bottom section. Everything I have thrives.

I have not. Do you have a controller hooked up to your heater? I have mine on the finnex heater controller which has a probe that I keep inside the tank (outside of the chamber) and it seems to keep things stable. If you don't have a controller, I'd recommond moving the heater inside of the tank - outside of the chamber.

Also, I'd recommend getting a controller for any heater. The internal controller usually goes bad or gets stuck and can cook your tank. Better be safe than sorry

Hi guys,

24ga JBJ nano here.

I made a thread in another part of the forums but didn't get any help. Maybe this is the right place to post this?

Are any of you guys/gals running a Tunze 9002 skimmer in chamber #2?

If so.....how did you get it to work?

I was told I had to "suction out" water from the middle chamber......in order for the skimmer to sit right. However this immediately removes water from the 3rd chamber where the pump is, and micro bubbles start forming in the main tank.

Just wondering how you guys did it?

thanks

Hope its ok if I chime in
I just ordered a JBJ 28led itermediate and stand .
I hope it arrives all in one piece.
My question is .. would all the jbj28 owners say they are happy with the quality of the tank , somone told me (waited till after I made the purchase) that his JBJ 28 leaked , the stand leaned to one side , trashed it overall .
Im not looking for seaworld .. just a simple clean design that with my past saltwater experiences and a little help from YOU.
figure there is a JBJ owners forum , must be a good little rig.
thanks for any input .
