JBJ 28G MT-601 LED hood ballast help

My main 5 strip daylight led lights in the 90W led hood is not working and I think it's the ballast. All strips are not working.

Is there a way to tell if it's a dead ballast of the leds/component inside the hood?

Does anyone know if the ballast can be fixed or a fuse?

If not, is there a replacement to be had without going the rip-off JBJ company?

If all strips aren't working unlikely to be an LED issue.
as to creative cheaper replacements.. sure but the "exact" circuitry is unknown..
I do believe there are multiple components including constant voltage supplies and some current controlling drivers.

guessing if it's the apparently main 24V power supply ALL diodes won't function (there is an exception i.e just weak but most common would be complete ps failure.)
Though I believe your moonlights use a second transformer.


Next would be to see if the constant current driver (if one) failed.


Start w/ the 24V power supply..You can realy use any 24V DC switching power supply w/ adequate power.

you can test this type of LED diode easily w/ a VOM across the ears.. set to either diode or low Ohms. will glow dimly if good.
Need to get polarity correct.

Thank you for the reference. I was able to get a 24V DC Power Supply and tested the LED hood and my daylights came on. So I want to say the JBJ Ballast is broken.

Do you know if there is a fuse or is it fixable? I really hate to spend $100 for a new JBJ ballast. Or if anyone found a cheaper alternative ballast to use to power the 90W LED hood.

Well, any 24V 4amp or greater power supply should work.
Your 'ballast" isn't really a ballast.

Should have stats on it.. Just match the specs volt wise and meet or exceed watts or amps.

As to repairs First believe ther is afuse somewhere but no idea where.
Also it is likely the power capacitors are the problem.

Both scenarios lead me to just replace the power supply..
Will need to add plugs ect. to match the orig..or some such modificstion.
