I recently set up my JBJ 30rl. After reading positive reviews, I ordered a tunze 9004 thinking it would be the perfect fit. I was told it fits nicely into one of the corner overflow chambers. While this is true, the outside wall is double walled (to hold the stock media rack). This causes the magnet to barely hold the skimmer in place when they are placed outside of the tank. Anytime I touch the skimmer, the magnets basically fall off. I could mount the skimmer with the intake slots facing the outer wall, but then the magnets would technically be under water in the center chamber. Is this acceptable without causing damage my water quality? If this mounting option is not acceptable, do you feel that I should attempt mounting it in the center chanber(where the return pumps are)?
The only other option that I can think of is placing it on the back of the tank with the skimmer Intake facing the overflows. This would require me to hack off the overflow lip built into the overflow grate on the tanks.
