[Reefing Newbie]

I recently set up a JBJ ATO system that I purchased from a RC member. I have noticed that the pump will stop before the water level is full enough to shut off the sensor. Is there a built in timer or something on the ATO? The lights indicating if the sensor is signalling that the sump needs top off will stay on and so will the pump light for the pump to be on. The only problem is that there won't be any top off water making it from the res. to the sump. Ideas on how to fix this?

I have the same unit and that happens when my res is empty. You can try putting the switches closer together so there is not a lot of difference in the height, mine are just about even with each other. This way you're adding smaller amounts of water more often.

Like above it happens when the res is close to empty. Is your res below, above or at the same level as your sump?

At the same level (the floor). The water in the res is currently deeper than the sump. I need to set the timer for a longer period because it is only allowing the pump to run about 30 seconds. I found out how to change that with google. Should I get my res higher or am I fine?

You should be fine but if its at the same level you'll find that once the water in the res gets to a certain level the pump won't pump anymore in.
