With all the reviews I'm still not sure if I'll get the jebao or eshopps. Any more reviews?
the jebao DP 4 has 4 dosers, can I use only 2 doser for calcium/ALK?
If you're only going to dose Ca and Alk, you only need two pumps. Might be nice to have at least one extra pump to dose Mag. That's my plan. Undecided if this pump is worth buying. I'd like to see some more positive reviews first. And preferably from those who have been using it for awhile.
Questioning long term reliability/ usability.
Some feedback, I bought the DP-4 in Sept 2014, and it came in about 3 1/2 weeks - no issues there.
Pump 1 was used to dose 1 cup, three times a day (237ml * 3) of limewater (kalkwasser) and Pump 2 dosed 1 cup of watered down Mag from Randy's two part. After about three weeks, pump 1 which had the Kalc wasn't dosing, but making a winding noise. I contacted Fishstreet and after some questions they sent out a replacement pump; standing by their product which is great, as it's the first time I had to get warranty support for a jeabo product. Also, I was dosing the clear Kalc, not getting the sentiment.
When pump 1 went bad, I calibrated pump 4, and set the program in. Today, this morning, I put a 2 cup measuring cup at the output that should have read 237ml, and it only pumped 200ml. Not good. I went to pump 2 that dosed the mag, changed the time of dose, instead of 237 ml, it was 195ml. Also not good.
I calibrated both pumps, and tested, to get what it was suppose to, 1 cup @ 237ml. I plan to test the output now every week as that kind of surprised they went out of calibration after two month and one month of service respectively.
Any other tests 4-8-12 weeks in to see if calibration is still in check? I'll keep everyone posted.
after using for sometime, it worked well for me, Don't expect it to perform like Vertex or GHL, But it does not lose out to other cheaper brand of dosers. If you do not wish to spend on high end dosers, get the jebao and simply just change once a year to be safe.
So I tested this morning and both pumps were spot on. That's good. I can honestly say that during testing and swapping out the pump that went bad, I unplugged and removed the circuit board inside. During the process, I feel that may have messed with the calibration. Initially wasn't suspect since the programming wasn't lost, but does follow logic. I will continue to test monthly to ensure the pump is calibrated. Can also say that FishStreet is responsive, and said if it didn't calibrate, they would send me a new unit. I like that, and how that shows they stand behind what they sell.
as above, im ordering mine soon! replacing marine magic. i could use the extra 1 doser, and apparently it will continue dosing afterwards if there is a power cut off. for marine magic, you will have to see time on the pump before selecting timer mode.
Anyone received their please do a review here!
I've been running mine a few weeks now. Reefbreeders has great manual they wrote for it. Works just fine. It's pretty noisy though compared to my old BRS dosers. I'm guessing it will work just as well as everything else out there, since it's using the same parts being used by everyone else.
Do you mind sharing the manual? I just got mine and want to setup hourly dosing for alk and calc.. nothing major but the instructions so far seem confusing.
It's available on reefbreeders website btw
So I'm trying to get this because, I'm used to doing it with BRS dosers and my RKL.. I want to dose 2 ml daily total spread out, hourly at the bottom of the hour. I'm reading the guide by reefbreeders and it asks how many mls I want to dose hourly, and for how long to keep the doser on for.. The confusion is, can't I just tell it to dose 2ml a day and it figures the rest out?
If I'm starting so low, do I need to start at just a once a day? I'm confused at having to specify how many ml each time it comes on AND how long the pump has to run for.
Anyone, or am i just dumb.
My pump is still on the way, but from the instructions, and your 2ml/day, I think I would probably do at least 4x at .5ml each time, just to spread it out.
I think you have to set the time, say 12a.m., 6am, 12pm, 6pm. Then,I think you have to specify the amount to dose, and in this case,.5ml each time. And lastly, I think you then, set the times per week, which is 7.
I think that is how it's done.. Lol.. I am not completely sure about the last part, simply because my pump is lost in limbo with ups.. But I think that's the process...
The smallester increment I saw was 1ml... hoping Im wrong. .5ml couple times a day would be much better. The other question is, even if I do the .5ml, what do I put in when it asks for how long to keep the pump on for. Shouldn't it understand that?
1mL is the smallest increment it can go.
