Jebao WP25 Information

That's not a bad idea and sure won't cost them anything to offer just the pump. This sure will make those people with RA, APEX, and other DIY controllers happy.

I still can't calculate in my head how Jebao can make much profit with a $30 sale that includes the pump, controller, and a power supply! Any one of those three could cost that much alone.

A friend of mine is a LED lighting designer. They have done major RGB events including some of the special clothing lighting for the super bowl half time event a couple years back (not the ones that didn't work right)

He goes to China a lot and says you'd be surprised what you can buy for literally pennies on the dollar there in the wholesale markets. I bet it cost them less than $10 to make that entire setup. There is basically no R/d costs to recover. Other companies have already done it.

Sacohen - Thanks for getting and posting this info. I foresee new pumps in my frag tanks near future :).
I got some new info!!!

From Wynstan at Jebao

That would make the flow rate about 158 GPH (if my conversion is correct)
Tank size for the test was about 80 gallons.

Best thing as far as I can see is they are adding the variable speed to the controller.

I also like that they seem to be taking customer feedback into consideration with the new controller. Hopefully there will not be any delay in the release.

It seems they are actually making a killing.
1 HKD = 0.128831 USD
1 USD = 7.7621 HKD
HKD is Hong Kong Dollar

Well, it is all relative as one square foot of living space costs $500-$600 USD in Hong Kong compared to less than $100 here in US. Avg annual income per capita is comparable to that of US too. I know I can't afford to live there.

How come everyone keeps quoting the wholesale price and think you are getting a deal? In order to get an accurate cost per unit, you need to factor in the shipping, brokerage fee, taxes and the unit......

i will say US$800-1300/sq ft in HK at the moment

I was reading they have 100 year mortgages that in some cases are written that they get transferred to your kids in the event you die. Hope you like the house you grow up in...:)

I agree. Jebao is the manufacturer. If you want one or two pumps, you'll have to go to fish-street. After markup and shipping, you'll probably pay $75/pump. I still think that would be a great price for what this pump will do, and very fair if people are paying $100 or more for the WP40.

These do come with magnets! I had a friend (who is from HK) call and ask. The pump is still being tested and certified, and they will start shipping orders to the US "next month".

I don't know if the $30 is the wholesale price
Jebao told me that it will be priced $30 knowing that I was a customer and not a distributer or retailer.

I believe that the $30 stated is the suggested selling price. Fish-Street and other can ask what they feel the demand is willing to pay.

I don't see Fish-Street charging $75 for the pump if that is what they are selling the WP40 for currently.

Keep in mind all the figures I've been stating are without shipping.
I did say at one point I can't see Fish-Street charging more than $50 for product and shipping if they are currently charging around $20 to ship the WP40.

$75 would be including shipping and markup. The shipping for 1 unit of a wp40 is almost $25. I think the wp25 shipping would be the same. I read on the wp40 thread that a wholesale price on the wp40 is $54 iirc. FS sells 1 unit for $75 before shipping, therefore a $20 markup. All math considered, one wp25 should be $68-$77 delivered to your house.

Thats what I basically got on the quote for WP25. They said there are some kind of restrictions for shipping items with magnet inside so the shipping is higher.

I am not bashing on the product as it is good and I have two 40s. But was pointing out that a price quoted is not necessarily what it will be sold for unless all price factors are included.

This is where the group buy makes sense. There was a group buy for the WP40 for $58 which included shipping to the U.S. but you had to add shipping to the final destination so say $65 total. If the WP40 was $40 the Wp25 should be cheaper than that. So a group buy would DEFINITELY be worth doing IMO.

I knew it wasn't going to be $30 shipped and all, that would be nonsense. That is why I wanted someone to do the group buy because so many people are buying multiple units, there would have to be a good discount. I think I saw someone state they wanted 5!??!

Not to mention spread the shipping cost over the entire order.
