Jebao WP25 Information

Just got my pumps !!
Thanks MaC !
today like an excited kid getting a new toy.
Well the toy came and I passed out again.

The magnets are a pita to remove with out having to worry braking something.
Tip - use a plastic old gift card.

Assembled it found the light sensor don't know how people lose it.
Took it out into a bucket and put vinegar and ran for about 10 min playing with the settings trying to get a feel for it.

So far very impressed very small unit compared to the wp40 that I've seen at the lfs !

So just put it on bad-boy on the 65 gal and moves water like crazy. else mode is a bit to much not happy LPS but I'm sure the sps love it . I set it at w1 and s3 for now until I get my dimmer then I'm thinking of running two pumps.

Noise is not an issue at all at the highest mode could makes a tiny hum other than that nothing and they say after a while they break in.

And my night sensor seems to work in complete darkness I put darkest place no light to simulate night and it stayed on.
Will follow up on this later tonight to see if I'm correct.

Read somewhere that very high output lights (LEDs, Metal Halide, VHO) can damage the original sensor, those using other light sources should be OK.

Passed out again? :fun2:
You gotta play pikapoo with the night sensor it probably will revert back to green light after a minute or so.

I've never heard that one. Has anybody else?

That warning is on FS website re WP40, close to the bottom of product description. For some reason my browser won't let me copy the paragraph.

* Night mode is a new feature intended for use with low output lighting. The sensor can become damaged when used with high output VHO, HQI and LED lighting systems. Customers use the sensor with high output lighting at their own risk. The sensor is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty if used with high output lighting.

Here ya go.

Yes FS and almost every other re-seller has that warning.
That is why they don't warrant the light sensor at all.

Haha I was working grave yard shift last night. I was did not feel like messing with toys while being very Tired :)

Well if so it be no problem I have pc fans that have led lights so should provide the light it Needs would buying a better night sensor work better or correct the issue ?

Agree, my group buy thread was closed. Should've keep this thread clean for information.

Simon have you tried the light sensor that michaellee64 mentioned? I want to get a bunch for our local club but haven't confirmed with him yet if they work 100% in the dark. They look similar to the ones come in with Jebao.

I've got the new night sensors running on 3 controllers... All of them shut off in total darkness! So I'm guessing that the ones that they sent with the pumps were defective. The only difference that I've noticed is that they take a little more light to turn on then the original one. Hey Ron, I'll put yours in the mail tomorrow.... been working tremendous hours the last couple of weeks. Been on call for the last 3 weeks in a row... Now it's beer time!

Glad to hear that you are getting some down time.

Thanks for the up date on the sensors. I've been letting mine run 24/7 most of the time because I already turn off my CL at night so the tank is at 2/3's flow anyway. But slowing down the WP40 will be good too.

And thanks to macboat for hooking me up with some WP25's.

That explains why my night mode sensor stopped working. My controller is slightly under my 250w halide. When I first hooked it up it worked fine but now I noticed that when the light goes out night mode doesnt kick in.

Anyone know the part number from radio shack?

Someone on the WP-40 thread said you can get them at Radio Shack, but I haven't been able to find them or anything similar.

So was the pump leaching something brown an isolated episode? are most of you pre-washing/soaking the pumps in water and vinegar prior to using them without issues?

I haven't heard of another incident like that.
I didn't rinse mine. I just put them in the tank and no problems.

You should rinse anything before put into your tank... They are from manufacturing line, I noticed mine is a bit greasy.

A good practice will be rinse it and run it in diluted vinegar or chlorine for 5 minutes.

I know.... that's why I'm asking if the leaching issue has happened again, I wasn't really asking if it should be done but thanks for the reminder and tip to everyone

Could have been him trying to make people worry.
