Jebao WP25 Information

Last weekend I set up my shallow 60g, 36x24x18. I have a wp25 set up in the half way up the back corner aiming across the back of the tank. The only setting that won't blow sand around is H3 S3. At least I don't have to use a dimmer.

I was under the impression the S1, S2 and S3 only worked on W1.

Do you actually see a difference on H3 if you have it on S1?

Agree. The tests that I did on the WP25 using Kill-a-watt meter proved that the 3 speeds only work in W1 mode.

I don't thank it can be control by VDM. I saw an Q/A on fish market someone ask about controlling with 0-10V and the reply was no.

It can be done, but it's risky. If you are confident your code will never go over 50% then it will be fine. A better solution is to cut the voltage output from Apex in 1/2 by using resistors on the plug you design. Then you can write code over the whole range of 0-5V safely. I'll post a pic of my plug when I get it finished.

The Jebao that RA has cuts the voltage in half, you would just need to change the end on it to be a RJ-45 connection.

Ah, good point. I have the resistors and RJ45s all I had to do was spend a couple bucks on DC sockets and 3 pin connectors and I can make two cables, forgot there was a ready made solution out there. BTW- thanks for the 4up LDD boards! Cheers!

I don't have an Apex or and Apex Jr and really have no experience with them, but from the way I read the How To I posted on the previous page Post #1463

You will need:

A Reef Angel Jebao Cable. That's it. No need for the Jebao controller box anymore.

People reporting different issues are using the led dimmer, this makes the controller work at a voltage it wasn't designed for. It was designed to work at 24V. It isn't a bug or design problem.

Not true. I am running mine on the stock controller and have had occurrences of the setting changing after power outages.

Also, one of my two 25's has gotten noticeably louder... to the point where my girlfriend even commented on it (she is usually oblivious to anything involving my tank). I took it out to make sure the shaft was still seated properly, and gave it a quick scrub. Still loud. Going to give it a vinegar bath and try one more time... I will replace it if it doesn't quiet down as it's pretty annoying. Unfortunately I got mine from the big group buy on here so an exchange may not be possible... whatever, I knew this was a gamble going into it, not a big deal.

I REALLY wanted to love these pumps, but thus far, I'm not overly impressed. I don't think they're junk, and they blow away (heh) every other powerhead I've had, maybe just a bit too hyped up from what I've experienced thus far. That said, it certainly seems I'm in the minority here so I'm not writing these off yet.

Yes, you need to buy the Neptune VDM module since the Apex jr doesnt have any variable speed ports. You need the cable from RA and you need to modify it too, it's not a plug and play thing for the Apex controllers.

You just need an available variable speed port. I have regular Apex it comes with 4 split between 2RJ45 jacks. Not sure how many the apex Jr has or what you already have plugged into them, but that might mean you need to add on variable speed ports.

i thought so because at the end of the directions it talks about those ports. for me its not worth it to spend another $80 on the apex module when the pump cost $80 alone

Just use the controller it comes with, I think it provides some good variety and features. If you want to dial it back reduce voltage input with a dimmer or smaller/variable power brick.

Ive been running my wp25 for a week now counter opposite to my Tunze 6105 in my
120g. Its amazing what an awesome power head it is for the price. The quality seems is very nice and it has a sturdy feel to it. No cheap plastic at all, as I was expecting.

It does make a slight whine when it ramps up and down. But nothing to crazy. One of the best deals this hobby has seen in years!

If these were a cheap knockoff, we won't have 60 pages of posts on this product. There are over 150 pages of posts on the WP40. That says a lot about this product.

It does make a slight whine when it ramps up and down. But nothing to crazy. One of the best deals this hobby has seen in years!

My wp40 did that too. But in 3-5 weeks it became completely quiet. The 4 newer wp25's I run are so quiet I can hardly hear them with my ear to the magnet!

would anyone mind to elaborate on that? i just got mine today and it is extremely strong in my 40b, especially with an mp10 already in there. i would like to replace the mp10 eventually but im worried about the long term use of these things. so how do i lower the voltage with a dimmer?
