Jebao WP60

Has anyone heard of the new WP60 pumps being somewhat loud? I know everyone has been happy with their 25 and 40's noise levels. The new 60's sound like a good solution for larger tanks.---Rick

I have heard the same too about the early version of WP60 being loud but Jebao apparently is working on or have improved the noise problem. Wonder if FS is selling the improved version.

As far as innovation and stealing R&D goes... I think there's a lot to be said about having Pump + Controller + Light Sensor for such an economical price... that is if they last. The pumps look pretty much like clones of Tunze pumps but I believe the programming, speed control programs, and light sensing is unique to Jebao. Also I don't think Tunze can simply patent oval shaped pump.

I think people who are saying they wouldn't spend XXX million dollars on a Ecotech pump are also kinda irrational. Jebao and Tunze do not offer critical tested OEM backup battery systems with graceful failure and Ecotech doesn't offer a pump you can point. Both features are critical to me so that is why I have both a MP40wes, MP10es, and two WP-25s in my tanks.

A lot of people here lost a lot of livestock and wiped out tanks during Hurricane Sandy when the power went out an unprecedented 5-6 days in the tri-state area, even in Manhattan! A lot of that could have been avoided if there were battery backups for pumps.

As far as naming goes, it might be a cultural thing. In Western culture, you honor your ancestors by naming your children after them. There might be something similar going on here.

There a couple of people who have posted modified battery backups for the Jebao pumps.

There is a version that uses a modified Tunze Safety Connector to power them.

As far as them lasting the WP-40 have been out for several months and they seem to be going pretty strong. I admit that a multy year test would be great, but they just haven't been out that long yet.

I wouldn't feel comfortable having my backup be something that was hacked together. Half the point of the backup is to make me feel good and I just wouldn't with a car battery wiring everywhere with electrical tape solution.

I would happily pay $150 for a good solution from Jebao where the pumps go into low power mode and the battery is well tested and safe.

Just put in a whole house generator that is what I did. Then there is no need for a battery backup. LOL!

I am not sure how long the 60 has been available not real long I am thinking. I don't know anyone that has one yet. I actually looked on fish street last night and couldn't find it so I sent them an email asking when it was going to be available and they sent me a link to buy one, said they had them in stock. I have 2 - 40s they are better than the koralias and the mp-40 I have. Now as far as longevity that has yet to be seen.

Sure, that's nice if you got the money.

With the amount of hurricanes that come through South Florida I would love a whole house generator.

Do these have settings to run at lower strengths? I like the idea of the wider flow, and these will work for the larger tank I'm hopefully setting up over the winter. I'm a bit worried about putting them in my 120 though.

I wonder if you could switch the shroud of the wp60 with the wp40 to get the wider flow. from the pics it looks like the pump is the same size just a wider nozzel on the shroud.

Good to know. There was talk that may have been a pre-order.

Hope to see a review about it when you get it.

Yep mine left Hong Kong yesterday too, noise level was said to that of a mp40 ironically and I have plenty of those whirling on the tank already so don't plan to have any issues with noise ;)
