220g reef with aquamadic sump system 2x250 MH lamps and actinic tube. Water parameters T.80,Ph8.0,Phos0,Nitrate3,Sg1025,Alk9,Calc280,(due to poorly adjusted CO2 reactor).Tank is dominated by coraline algae, thriving Xenia, mushrooms doing ok. Recently introduced candycane, plate coral and hammer. The hammer has developed a jelly like dissolving fungus which has now eaten10% of polyps in one area. Can this sort of infection be treated? What is likely cause? Comments welcome.

I believe it is considered bacterial. It will kill the hammer quite quickly if left untreated. Use lycos dip or I used Kent tectra D. Strong dip, saved only 1/2 of the hammer but its coming back nicely.

Thanks for the reply. I seem to have successfully treated it with tetracycline solution applied with a paint brush. About 20% remains but is now flourishing.
