Bought a nice 50+ eye lepto from a fellow reefer. Unfortunately it wasnt sent with an ice pack overnight and got really hot. Opening the box the water in the bag was orange. The coral still had little bits if orange on it. This morning it is grey. Still tiny bits of orange here and there. Ive got the light off on that side of the tank.

What are chances its doomed even with small pockets of color but having turned mostly grey? Is there anything I can do to try and help it?

I am really disappointed (it doesnt help that it wasnt cheap) but theres no guarantee if not buying from a shop.

Of course there's a guarantee if you're not buying from a shop. You paid for a live, healthy coral which requires a cold pack for shipping, that's the shipper's responsibility and paypal/your credit card strongly back that guarantee. If it's dead, you're owed a refund, and if he doesn't agree you can either file a paypal claim or call the 800 number on the back of your card (if you used one when paying through paypal) and file a chargeback. If it's mostly dead, especially over such a dumb mistake, you're for sure owed at least a good portion of a refund.

Other people's stupidity is their problem, not yours. If someone isn't intelligent enough to know how to ship corals, then they shouldn't be selling them. It sounds to me like it's 99.9% dead, definitely not what you paid for.

Sent him a message. Will see what comes of it. My bank is really good about these things. Ill give thrm the weekend to reply before filing anything.

It was a really nice coral as well. Never had an issue before until now.
