JL Audio Facility Field Trip for those who are into audio in the club

Sounds good, now to see if I can go or not. I thought it was more of car audio... JL's auto line up is awsome!

That's top-tier stuff - they're just down the street from me in Miramar. There's all kinds of neat stuff in that neck of the woods.
MTN (Maritime Telecommunications) is in there also. They're the satellite provider for communications (voice and data) for the bulk of the worlds cruise and freight ships.

Not to threadjack, but I happen to have a pair of JL 10W6-6 10" dual voice coil 6ohm subs, if anyone is interested. They were bought new in 1999, haven't been used since 2003, and are sitting inside a sealed band-pass enclosure (made for a VW New Beetle).

They're in my garage, safe and sound....Now, if you have a beetle, heh, this is a nice setup using the bandpass enclosure!

send me a pM if interested

That field trip should be interesting - I might opt-in on that.
Would be interesting to see what happens there! If you have ANY interest in home/car audio, you would probably get a kick out of a factory visit to JL.

That sounds like an awesome visit. Very tempting!

I have an ancient pair of 10W0s, and they've been installed in 3 different cars over the last 10 years. One of them is currently in my s2000 and it still hits hard. JL is top notch in my book.

They're awesome subs - I think the W6's are rated like at 600-700W or something? I was dumping about 800-1000W at 1.5Ohm from a Phoenix Gold ZPA setup. After that, I mellowed it down to a PG ZX500 amp, tossing about 750W to the pair.

That should be an interesting visit. I just had to send my amps down there to be fixed. Overheated. They make nice stuff. If it wasn't too far of a drive I'd like to check that out. And of course if I was in your club

They're in Extreme South Broward County - basically, due west of Hollywood/Hallandale, near I-75, or the Turnpike Extension (leading to homestead/Keys), within about a mile or two of either one

Yeah I remember driving thru Miramar on my way down to Key Largo. :) JL's nice stuff. It would be interesting to tour the factory.

I had the JL 10W6-6's, and I think JL tweeters in the front.
The rest of the mid's/hi's were MB Quart (still got them, as well - 6.5")

I wish I could go, but one weekend is school, and I would have to drive from Tally 2 weeks before exams, and then the next weekend kicks off exams.

Damn, i was hoping that sharkonwheels was selling home audio woofers. I need a sub still, and between the tanks and my recent audio purchases, I'm kinda low on funds. That's why I've got to find a summer job!

but yea, sounds like it'll be a sweet tour. I wish I could go... Maybe make someone else knock a subwoofer to the floor, then offer to buy it on scratch and dent :) it's worked at BB!
