The reason why the BOD has elections every year is to great that new blood in office. So why don't we all be proactive to and make the changes that we want instead of complaining about it. Just my 2 cents. I will run for office...

my post wuz an inside joke...lol nothing club related:)

I do like the Tank Help idea as well as all other ideas.

Sass, I emailed Reef gen this morning. They are located at the Long Island Aquarium. Hopefully, we can set something up. I will try to call as well.

I guess we are looking for more of a day trip thing... Which makes the most sense, IMHO. We could possibly rent several Vans and head down to NYC for the various aquariums and specialty stores as well as Long Island and then come across on the Ferry.

LMK what people are thinking as far as places to visit and I will get in touch with them. I have plenty of free time this week. (Slow at work) I can make some phone calls and email as needed.

I know there are plenty of stores and specialty stores in NYC and Long Island. Maybe I will get in touch with a NYC Reef Club and get some advice....

LMK what you Guys and Gals are thinking....

My wife will have to sign my permission slip..lol Depending on what time you have the feild trip depends on when I could go, this is based on my prego wife who is due in march so eaither before march or summertime next year when she iss off and could watch the kid ( she is a teacher ). I know im a PITA :(

i'd also like to throw in another idea. Tank visit us nice for all of those with nice tanks. What about a tank help day? Planned the same as a visit, but maybe you done have all your dif test kits, need a tank moved, etc. What better than to have a few members come to give you a hand.

7 people trying to help figure out an algae issue is way better than one.

+1

FWIW, I think the NY Aquarium may still either be still closed post-Sandy or only partially running? I've never been to Manhattan Aq., But Max Reefs is my primary LFS, so highly recommended (could also do Greenwich Aquaria). Would love to go see other folks tanks - or volunteer my own (should have my new 265 up and running within the next two weeks). Simon

The NY Aquarium is partially open, I haven't been there but a coworker from the city says it isn't worth the trip/ money to see.

I could also look into getting out on the Quinnipiac or Amistad for the day. My high school was very involved with Long Wharf. They educate on the native marine life, and the affect we are having on them.

I have a friend who works at mystic I could always ask her if they ever do behind the scenes type tours..

They definitely do, I'm heading up there in a few weeks with my two sons for a Cub Scouts event - even get to sleep beside the tanks (in fact it was this same event in the spring that got me back into the hobby).
