Its good marketing, they have done very well recently and have apealed to the masses, and are available.
The demand that is created, does not directly impact natural reefs.
I believe farms like this will be the "average" coral soon and the "bread and butter" of the trade allowing people to get a coral in thier area that they saw in someones tank from across the country.
I don't like that they have taken a few "collectible" pieces that were already established to rename. How many times did you have to explain the ORA and the Cali Tort is the SAME thing. That frustrated me.
Obviously overtime thier values per piece should drop as they will be common as garden snails, so I still think there will be a "collectible" market.
Just get the dang specie correct and don't rip anything already established off and I see an excellent niche they are creating for themselves.
And UPDATE THAT LAME WEBSITE, so it can be an actual reference tool.
ORA and High End/LE's I would not put together. If so you need to add all of the other farms like TCN, etc which just further saturates the high end market which is already dripping wet. It gives the smaller stores like Atlantis or Youreef a chance to specialize in that high end market.
I call them the "Starbucks of Reefing" a coffee shop on every corner and an ORA frag in every tank.
Which isn't a "bad" thing, it made Henry Ford rich.....
