Joe's 190g 60x36x20 SLOW Mixed Reef Build.......

No way, there will be no more money spent on flow lol (Until I get a wave box that is). I didnt plan on the 6201s blowing directly on the corals or anything. I planned on putting them on the opposite sides of the tank (length wise) and having one about 6-8" further back than the other. That way they dont just cancel each other out. And Then I would have my 6045s in the back of the tank, angled towards the center of the front pane. Maybe I will have my return from my sump entering towards the center of the tank on some sort of two way eductor.

This is just all ideas at this point. It really depends on if I get $2500 or $3000 to spend on the tank equipment wise. We will be having a move halfway across the state coming up. So I guess we will see.

That sounds like a good plan, and it is easy enough to add a controller if you need to.

Hey, I totally forgot one other option for flow that (if it ever comes out) will be a good option for the price. Those Seio Polarios are supposed to put out 5500 gph for about $350. You might call Premium Aquatics and see if they think they are ever going to come in.

Seio pump for $350.... Call me nutty, but Id rather spend the extra $200 per, and get a Tunze. That may be an option for me though if my budget comes in at or below $2000. I was sitting and wondering what were some ways I could save on some of this equipment. Salty supply has been working with me on some pricing, so hopefully I will be able to save.

So far I got rid of the Osmolator from my shopping cart, along with an expensive RODI. I figured I could use a generic auto top off, along with the RODI from Melevsreef. That saved be a good 4$300 as it is.

I wonder if theres anything else I can go a little less extravagant on, but not get a crappy product.

So far the equipment I need:
Octopus 250 pro
Giesemann Eco 48" 2x250w with the 2 T5s
Eheim 126 2 return pump
2 Tunze 6201s
Cheap used 40-60g sump

And maybe Im off, but I think thats all I need to get this tank up, besides the plumbing, which Ive added another $40 into my budget for. I hope to get a couple hundred back on my current MH fixture and my current skimmer.

I dont think Im missing any crucial equipment, but I may be wrong =\

side note: That equipment is going to have to last me a year at least before any real upgrades or add ons to it.

Keep you eye out in the classifieds. Some really good stuff comes up every so often! :) I just missed out, by a few hours, a tunze 6101 for $160 SHIPPED!!!!

yeah, he had 4 of em too. I check the classifieds OFTEN for good stuff. I'm on the lookout for Tunzes right now. You might be able to find some stuff you want and save some bucks too

This one guy in the bay area should be selling me his ER skimmer for cheap sometime soon ;)

I will keep a look out for some stuff though. I comb through ebay all day long, because thats one of VERY FEW sites we can view at work for some reason lol.

LOL, I saw the Octopus on your equipment list up above, and thought you lost interest. :) You may have a deal ;) My BK should be here in a week.

Here's a teaser pic for you...ER nog :) YGPM

That list looks good, and I think going for the Tunzes is a good idea :)

Only other cost saver I might suggest is the return. Eheims are definitely top notch, but Ive never had a problem with my Mag. You could probably get a used Mag 12 for $75.

And maybe one really cheap addition, a couple phosphate reactors for running ferric oxide and carbon (I use generic from bulkreefsupply.com - waaay cheaper than rowaphos, phosban, etc.). You can plumb then inline and probably find them used for $20 each (or $30 new).

phospban reactors for $20-$30? Didnt thikn they were that cheap. I planned on sometime next year (when I can REALLY get my SPS craze going) I would invest in the chemical type equipment I really will need.

Your mag isnt loud? Ive heard a bunch of people complain about them being too loud and driving them crazy. I may take that advice and get one used on here.

$32 at Dr. F&S right now:

And if you find a coupon they can be had for less (I think I paid $27 for mine). As far as benefit for the price phosphate reactors can't be beat IMO. Get one and fill it with ferric oxide and fill another with carbon. If you want you can even use one and mix ferric oxide and carbon in it (what I have on my current 125).

Salty Supply is great, they saved me HUGE on the purchase of all this stuf coming up. Now I can afford the multi controller also, along with a Phosban reactor!

I have a huge rio I could use as my return pump. Its like a 2400 or something, think thatd end up working? Or should I just invest the money in the quality return pump?

So the surgery went well! Shes at home bandaged up, not in too much discomfort. The total came out to $9600 though! =o

That's sadly going to cut into my budget a little bit. I should have a decent amount to work with though. The only dilemma will be being able to afford the lighting (whether it b Gfixture or a halide/t5 kid with a canopy), the TS24s, and which skimmer. I gotta see after this month if I can afford the octo 250 pro, or gotta stay with the 200. Either way I think I'll be ok with my equipment. Especially considering I have a 24" halide fixture and a superskimmer to sell. So I guess we shall just see!

Thanks, it was a relief to me. Now the time to stress regarding financial situations with whats the next important step in our life.... THE TANK! lol.
