Joe's 190g 60x36x20 SLOW Mixed Reef Build.......

So Ive got my flow figured out. I will run two Tunze 6080s, along with a wavebox. A friend of mine has a couple 6080s hes getting rid of for around $300, and a wavebox sells for around $450 or so. Those 3 are the same price as a TS24, and seems like itd be better flow.

I also have my 6045s, so I feel there will be plenty of flow.

As for the overflow, I thought this morning... Why not cut out that overflow in the right hand corner, and make a less deep coast to coast overflow? It can extend the length of my tank, come out about 2-3", and be 2-3" tall. That can drain to my overflow in the left hand corner...... OR that may be a stupid idea. It just sounded like a good idea with the wavemaker. Maybe the wavemaker would make it best to keep the second overflow though.

Fixed.

Think the Two 6080s and a wavebox would be enough flow? I plan on having SPS on top, LPS middle, and softies lower. So I dont want overwhelming flow. but I dont want crap settling.

The 6080s and the wavebox seems like a nice median, teamed with my two modded 6045s.

so Im going to make a new overflow. Its going ot be a 90 degree tube coming into the tank in the exact center. I figure this will help with the wavemaker, so I always have SOMETHING going into the sump. This will be on the axis of where the waves will basically see saw of of. I dont know what its called, but it'll be one of those overflows that come out 90 degrees, with the plastic net extending up so fish dont get sucked in.

Lol. Well I was debating. I mean leave two overflows, on opposite sides. That way only 1 is getting water at a time. But if I have that one in the center, then its always getting water. I may not even drill a hole for it, and just have a gutter type system going to the overflow on the left side.

Im getting a little antsy now, since Im 95% sure I will have my money to play with tomorrow =)

I just dont wanna screw this thing up lol.

on another serious note. Should I have to adjust my water level, due to this wavebox? I mean the waves going over the overflow could potentially overflow my sump, couldnt it?

Ive never installed a sump, so Im nervous about this whole thing.

I dont think the wavebox will overflow your sump, but I can't say for sure. The best place to get a definitive answer is over in the Tunze sponsor forum. Roger is always pretty quick to respond and is pretty straightforward with what their products can and cannot do (which isn't much).

Yeah, I already asked him =) waiting for the response.

Now I gotta find a skimmer. Its up to 3...

ASM G4+ = $419
Euro Reef RS250 = $485
octopus 250 pro = $559
ATI Bubble master = $599.

Not quite sure if I wanna spend the $600 on a skimmer, it seems a little steep. Buuutttt, if I can just skip on the wavebox for now, I can get a better skimmer like that bubble master. Then I wont have to worry about upgrading. Too bad theres nothing solid for sale thats used now =\

Go with the octopus 250 pro - Reef Specialty has them for $499 with free shipping right now ;) It beats the heck out of the ASM and Euro Reef and is only marginally more expensive. I actually think it beats out the ATI BM 200 as well, and is less expensive.

Alright, bought the pair of 6080s I had my eye on. So flow is set when I find a wavebox cheap enough. And I will be picking up an Aquamedic 2x250w halide w/ 2x54w T5s next weekend. Things are slowly starting to come around now. Now one last effort to find a nice used skimmer before I buy that octo 250 pro.

Yeah, he picked someone else, though I Was clearly first in line. He seemed like he was dumping them for too cheap, and renegged on the price IMO. But whatever.

I picked up the two for $300 Terry. So that'll work.

(and hope they break lol).

 funny, but you better knock on wood, dude!

Nice, I think those choices will do well for flow and lighting. Sometimes you just gotta make a decision and go with it ;)

what happened with the Tunzes? sometimes things are confusing on a thread, when somebody PMs to get in line but doesnt post on the thread, ive seen some major squabbles...
