Hey Guys/Girls...

I have a full build thread on the Reef Discussion forum, but I figured I'd post some progress here as well. As many of you know I'm upgrading from a 30G tank. My reasons for upgrading was that I needed more space for coral and I wanted my lil' black tang to be happy (for awhile at least!).

Here's a breakdown of the new setup...

-57 Gallon (36x18x21'') Oceanic Illuminata
-700GPH Glass~Holes Overflow Kit
-Custom Oak Stand
-Three Chambered Acrylic Sump w/ Frag Section
-6x24w Catalina T5's w/ (2) 460nm Powerbrite LEDs
-Skimmer (Still Undecided)
-(2) Vortech MP10 Powerheads
-Tsumani AT1 Auto Topoff
-Calcium Supplimentation: Undecided
-20lbs. Figi Live Rock / 20lbs. Figi Pink Sand
-More to Come!

There will be a few goals/methods involved with this setup that I plan on accomlishing:

-Overall Simplicity (Less is More)
-SPS Dominated, though Mixed Reef
-High Quality Equipment
-Stability

Here's a picture of my old 30G for those who haven't seen it before.

Here's a paint sketch of the new up and coming setup... will follow-up as things progress. :)

Thanks guys!

Yes, I'm keeping it in my bedroom where the old tank was. The pico is no longer in-use.

For those interested, here's a few shots of the stand being assembled by Joe. Hopefully it'll be finished by next week! :D

I have one Mp20 on my 29g Biocube and were it not for the clam being in direct flow I would have it running 100% Reefcrest. I would say MP20 would be a better investment because it's upgradable. My guess is the MP10s will do great, but for 75% of the cost the MP20 would do about the same. If I had a spare pump to stir my display I'd lend it to you to test out.

Thanks for your input, but I'm definatly gonna stick with the MP10s for now as I already own one and love it. Having two on each end will benefit the SPS as well.

Thanks Jon, it's coming along quite well! :)
very nice!!! stand is looking amazing!! is it going to be stained or painted?
Yup, we sure like our rimless tanks! :lmao: It's gonna be stained in a medium oak color. The entire inside will be water-tight in case I ever have a leak. :)

very nice Cali..But you should of had it made without the center devider, for ease of access,he could have tanked that box up like that,,I've seen a few that way..

Thanks Todd! He was going to make a removable center brace, but in all honesty it wasn't worth the effort for him to do it as the door openings are very large and I can get sump in/out if need be.
