Joining two 90 gallon aquariums

Hello guys I am wanting to join two 90 gallon aquariums by putting a shallow frag type tank, about 12" tall, in between them. I am wanting to put about an 8" hole in the ends of the 90 gallon tanks. What do you guys think? Will it work? Or do you have any other ideas? Please let me know. Thanks

this is a new setup and the 90's are glass. I am wanting them to be joined so the fish can swim from tank to tank. I know that plumbing them together would be easy but I'm wanting a challenge! lol I'm going to have a 90 on each side my fireplace and the frag type tank going across the top of the fireplace joining them together under my tv. I didn't know if anyone had any ideas of how I could do it.

FWIW drilling that size hole in glass is not going to be easy. And by not easy I mean you are going to probably break the side panes.

Heat from the fireplace would quickly overheat the tank.

Yeah I thought it would be difficult to do, but didn't know if anyone has tried it before. I understand that the fireplace would raise the temp but it is more for decoration than neccesity. I only use it occasionally or if the power is out. I have seen people use the aquatube on top of two aquariums but don't like the appearance of that.

I sent you a pm, I have a way this would work but you would have to settle with a smaller hole, 8" is practically impossible unless you have a sort of industrial cutting tool of some sort.
