Josee1013 150g SPS dominated tank

the max foot print is 7.5" x 14"

2 choices of skimmer I have:
PM Bullet 3 and ETSS 800XR

any thoughts?

thanks tpenn187! (wow is that your cameleon (avatar pic)? what a beauty!)

sadly an external skimmer would be in the way too much.. would have to put it in front or the sump and will beocome difficult to work in the small space ;)

nice tank but aren't you concerned that maybe your skimmer overflows and empties your sump? every so often a skimmer will just goes crazy and if your cup overflow is outside you're sump your water may just empty on your floor and your return pump will not be able to circulate to the top tank. just a fyi.

I dont understand your thinking..
the skimmer inside the sump is connected to a waste collector, if it's full the skimmer will emty in the sump.. so no water outside the sump...

So we bought reeferboy83 ETSS600 skimmer :)
if it's not strong enought we wil get the extension to make it a ETSS 900...

A litlle addtion to the tank today, a pistol tiger shrimp:

really hope she gets along with the yellow watchman we bought last week... or with the blue-spoted... ;)

no the skimmer will empty into the waste collector and the collector will overflow onto the floor therefore emptying the sump unless that waste collector turns off the skimmer somehow or has some safety overflow valve.

cool! never saw one of those and thought you may be able to overflow and lose all water in sump so i figure i'd say something! that would make a real bad day. so the water can't come out of the pvc pipes on top of the waste collector thats cool? nice tank!

mine is a DIY

there's a ping-pong ball inside the tube that blocks the air intake so no overflow... ;)

We saw the hole that our tiger pistol is digging and suprise! the blue-spotted goby is in there with it!

some pics of a 30% water change (about every 3 months, every 3 weeks it's a 15% water change usually)

the emptying took about 10 minutes and about 15 minutes filling up after.

Hey how and why did you come up with the formula of a 30% every 3 months and 15% every 3 weeks? Just courious. BTW was that tang expensive? Where did u get it?

just by observing our tank and monitoring ORP. our skimmer is not a expensif of high end one so doig those water changes makes the aquarium ok.

the tennenti cost about 80$ and I got it at a LFS.

The M. undata is begging to be messed with. I'd point a powerhead right at it if it was mine just to see the morphology that can be brought out of it.

it's getting huge... we are thinking of cutting it a little... but dont have the courage to do it...
