Josette's Pets Closing

I heard rumor yesterday that Josette's Pets was going to close. When I called to inquire about aquariums, she said they would be pricing display tanks in about two weeks. It is sad to see another local business closing its doors, but this may be an opportunity to get some items you may need.

It seems like they have been "closing in two weeks" for 6 months. :) No ill-will intended. Josette's was my first fish store I remember, so it won't be the same without Josette's.

Went in there around christmas time and they weren't even interested in ordering me a new 180. Can't say that I am sad to see them go.

Sad to see her go,

She helped me set up my first saltwater aquarium in 1980 or 81, when I was
still in high school, then it was Crabtrees (her then last name) Aquatics off of
SW 59th and Western, where the Bella Vista restaurant is now.

They also had the store on the North side as well, but the one there now is not
the original. The original burned down, and was rebuilt. She got it in the divorce settlement, and her ex got the south side one, and sold it to someone
else.

She was very patient with a kid just learning.

i bought most of my supplies and fish from them as a kid back in the day. it is sad to see them go, besides if they knew they were shutting down they probably wouldn't order a new tank.

No insider info here, but don't hold your breath. She's been "closing" since Sept.

I tried 3 different times, on 3 separate occasions, to purchase something already in the store, but not priced. Each time I was told Josette isn't here and I can't sell it without her. Phone calls to Josette required I "wait" for her to show up. I was on my lunch hour. I didn't have time to "wait" on her. All I wanted was a simple price, so I could make a decision on whether I wanted to purchase or not. One time she actually called the store back, asked to speak with me, then proceeded to keep me on the phone for almost 15 minutes and never gave me the only info I requested, a price.

Don't expect great deals, I didn't find any. I also won't be back, whether she goes "out of business" or not.

not trying to make anyone angry but lets keep the negative comments to a min! this is a public forum and most issues can be resolved without publicly bashing a persons buisness. This is why most of the LFS are no longer sponsors. Not calling anyone out just don't want to see anything turn ugly.

Thank you

Chris is right. The business is not what it use to be. She was very helpful alot of the time. I'm sure she has alot on her mind and the negative comments won't change anything. Let's all hope that she does well with her future and that a new store takes it's place. Now let's all do our best to support the very few stores we have left

not to be a spoon here, I completely understand the keep negative comments to a minimum, however if I ask what someone thinks about a LFS I expect those who have had negative experiences to tell me so.

If there are excessive negs about a business I most likely will not patronize that establishment. Those stores that pull out of sponsorship really don't want to fix the problem, they just want to continue doing business as usual and never take customer complaints.

Sorry just my 2 cents and I will now stand down.

I can remember going there as a kid and when I first decided to start in the saltwater hobby a few months ago I thought I would use her as my lfs. I went and purchased what little rock they had left and that was it. I got alot of good starter info for a newbie and its sad to see them go. One of the employees told me that it would be a while before they actually close b/c they are selling everything and will be open until all inventory is gone. I thought id wait and see if i could get a good deal on stuff since the prices should drop but i havnt really noticed anything that is cheaper than any other lfs.

most of those can be done via email and pm

What I heard Chris say is lfs have watched the forums and see the negative comments. If you can imagine how you set in your shop and fume over things said over people that left your shop smiling.

Pretty much neg comments should always be kept in private/ pm etc. never on a public board same goes for the question prevoking the discusion. Store owners will take care of issues if they are asked not publicly bashed on a board in front of potential customers.
