Its been over a year in the making... almost everything here is DIY.

Thought I would introduce myself and the system I've been working on.

Welcome. Everything is looking good. I will have to follow along. Where's is this being setup? The garage? Any ideas on equipment? Lighting, skimmer, etc.

Its going in the Living room once the pool table is sold.
Skimmer will be a Reef Dynamics INS350.

Lighting for the frag tank will be a hanging 6 bulb Tek T5 fixture.
The main tank may use my current 3 bulb 250w metal halide setup, but I hate the heat. If I have the same issues I may have to ask my wife for three AI Vegas

The sump (48 X 24 x 15) and frag tank (48 X 33 x 12) I built using 1/4".

The main tank (72 x 24 x 15) is a modified 180 gallon Tru Vu

6 bulb T5 Tek for frag tank. I'm already thinking it will be too small.

I upgraded my Geo CR624 and went with the Reef Dynamics CR250E. The quality and attention to detail are awesome.

The top uses their jam loc top which makes it quick and easy to disassemble. No more key holes w/ nylon screws!

So here is a long overdue post update on my tank. Its been slow going for several reasons, first my wife has started working full time and is currently working 12hr night shifts. So I have been the one watching my 16 month old son on my days off work. At this age he isn't the best helper. He tossed a 2" sched. 80 bulkhead he found into the sump during instal and almost gave me a heart attack.

Second reason this is taking so long is that the frag tank had a very, very slow leak after I installed it in the house. Thanks to Steve H. who was gracious enough to help repair my DIY project failure. The DIY sump is doing great though. I learned a lot building the frag tank, and the results are much better.

I decided to try LED lighting with the new setup, I still have my metal halide equipment if I feel a need to go back. I'm using 3 Kessil 350W. I tried using the gooseneck mounts but that didn't work out.

Sorry the lights aren't on yet...

I've isolated the frag tank temporarily, Flipped the stand around to accommodate the plumbing so I can do a quarantine before its added into the main tank. I plan on dipping everything weekly for a month or longer.

After this I will set up a 20 long with a cpr bak pak and HOB media reactor or aquaclear to run carbon and GFO.
