You're getting better PAR #'s with the 20ks? I cannot tell the difference between the two in the pics you posted :(

Yes the 20k Reeflux did show to have better par than the Reeflux 12k. There is not a huge difference between the 12k and 20k, as to me the 20k looks like a 12k with vhos running besides them.

Wow sorry about the AEFW does dipping with luguls solution get them all out or could they be in cracks? I only have one Acopora but my husband has alot...

Thanks NOObietanker & s.erel. I use TMCC and works well as a dip and does seem to affect them faster than lugols alone.

I can't wait to see the 20K with real VHO's running next to them.

I tried it. Nothing too thrilling because the 20ks are so bright that the VHO just get drown out and all is left is a little more florescence in the corals. I will get some shots of the tank with all 20ks and I will take one with all 20k and 2 4ft vhos over the tank. I will have to wait till these bulbs are due to be replaced though.

Hang in there JR. I'm sorry to hear about your AEFW war. I've got some in my tank as well.

It never ends, sorry to hear that Marc.:(

For the last couple of weeks I have really tested the bound of the ATB Econo 840 skimmer with large pinwheel on my 180gal reef. I ran both the Hurricone and the ATB simultaneously. I set both to skim dry but to my suprise the ATB cut down on the Hurricones skimmate production in a huge way. The hurricone started pulling out what looks like a lime green toxic water (which I have never seen before) while the ATB pulled out the blackest darkest skimmate I have seen yet.

As dark as tar

Right now the ATB because it is a better fit for my size tank. The Hurricone is ans awesome skimmer but is oversized for my current setup as I don't have enough organics to make this skimmer really shine. This is why it is important to get a skimmer that matches your system.

I have just about come to that conclusion. My Cat1 is just too much for 150g (total volume) I used to think thier was no oversized skimmers-only underfed tanks.. I am now thinking I was wrong. These newer pumps are just plain mixing more and more air .

Thanks for posting all this info... Especially the lighting specs!!

No problem. I am glad you got something out of it.

I completely forgot about this thread. Here is an update: There has been no signs of AEFW for over 4 months and the few acros/frags I have left have really taken off. A new problem has surfaced recently out of no where, Bryopsis!!! I began to raise the mag level slowly over the past couple of weeks to see if it will do the trick while I also added my ozone unit to the skimmer last night. I finally got around to installing my ozone unit to my new skimmer. Here is how I spliced into the line and installed my ozone setup on my Xp3000ext.

All materials used are ozone safe. I used a 3/8ths Kynar tee to splice the line, 3/16ths ID air line tubing Flexelene which slips inside the barb and a larger Flexelene tubing slid over like a sleeve to fully seal the connection.

So lets see, I have replaced my GEO with an ATB KD 150 PRO which is by far the easiest and CO2 efficient Calcium reactor I have used. I have replaced the SRO 5000ext with the XP-3000ext. I still have the ATB 840 in my sump but not in operation since the XP3000ext works better when it runs solo. I have replaced my ACjr with the robust Apex Controller and am in the process of getting everything to run on it. As far as livestock I haven't started adding any acros yet but the LPS within the lower regions of my tank have really grown. I have also replaced my VHOs with the new AquaVue LEDs, added an ATB media reactor for my activated charcoal. I plan on taking some new shots of the tank and new components this weekend.
