Hi all.

With a push up of my friend André Silvestre, i decided to put my tank on this great forum.

It has now 1 year and 6 months. Untill 3 days ago, my tank was only with a kalk reactor and a small jaubert system made in sump, with ARM. All SPS i've introduced ( since October 2008 ) were small colonies bought in store, or it was ( 80% ) frag's from my friends and 3 of them excellent pieces from my friend Machado Sousa ( Coral Maternity ).

My setup.:

Aquarium.:

Tank - 150x60x50

Sump - 100x40x40

Light.:

DIY 8x80w T5.
- 3 x Fauna Marin 16.500k
- 3 x ATI Blue Plus
- 1 x ATI Actini
- 1 x KZ Fiji purple

Circulation.:

1 x Vortech Mp40w
1 x Sicce 4000 lts/h - for sump return

Filtration.:

1 x ATB Econo 1050A

At the moment I'm using the balling method, and I still have the Mini Jaubert System on the sump.

My water parameters.:

Calcium - 240
Magnesium - 1050
KH - 4.5

Shame on me........

I think now with balling I will raise these parameters, and the objective is to have the calcium in 350/380, magnesium 1300/1350 and KH 6.5 / 7.

My Fauna.:

1 x Acanthurus Tennenti
1 x Zebrassoma Xanthurus
1 x Zebrassoma Flavecens
1 x Ctenochaetus Tominiensis
1 x Paracanthurus Hepatus
1 x Acanthurus Leucosternon
4 x Pseudoanthias Squamipinnis
6 x Chromis Viridis
4 x Chromis Cyaneus
1 x Serranus tortugarum
1 x Centropyge ferrugatus
1 x Holocanthus Ciliaris
1 x Gramma Loreto
1 x Stonogobiops dracula
1 x Amblyeleotris randalli
1 x Opistognanthus Aurifrons
1 x ???? goby can't find the name know.... ( is the gray blueish goby on photos )
2 x Chrysiptera parasema

I think this is all....

So stopping the bla bla bla and go the photos.:

Amazing. You corals are VERY NICE but your photography skills are the best I have seen. You have captured them perfectly.

Also your tank is so clean..the rocks and sand look spot less......what is your secret?? ;)

Can we get some pics of your equipment. Especially interested in your Jabernuat thing. (I think its a plenum)

Hi dvanacker,

Thanks... there is really no secret on it. Since I run the Mp40w, I've no dead spot on tank, maybe that's way my sand is so "clean". Now i've managed to take out the Poccilopora that was in the middle of the aquarium and the Caulastrea. That way I've managed to have more space in middle, creating a kind of lagoon.

The photos have been taken by my friend André Silvestre. He have good skills for that.... I've I take photos to the aquarium you will only seen a kind of goldfish tank.... ehehhee.

Great looking tank. This will be even better when everything grows out. What your procedure for ca alk and mg?

Hi, all.

EvMiBo, now I've buy the Grotech Tec III, for the balling. I'm using the Balling light method.

Next week I'll make again the tests in water to see if there was changes., and adjust ( if needed ) the dosage.

very nice clean tank. I love the blue background, I've only had black and I'm going to switch on my next tank

nice fish and tank!
can we have some more fish pictures?
they look very healthy!
how long do you have the pbt and the tenetti?

The Tenneti I've for more than 1 year.

pbt ?!.... don't know what that mean, sorry man.

For now this is the only photos that I've. On next round of photos, my friend will try to photograph the fishes individually. ( hope he see this.... :P )

What is the actual size of your tank in gallons?
Oh and photos are great! Kudos to Andre!!!

Hi People,

Well, got some new...

Has I've described in the above posts, I've started with balling. Some weeks later, I've got some coral to loose tissue, mainly the most sensitive coral ( montipora and Acropora ), and some corals have retractedt the polyps ( maybe because my angel ), so I decided to stop balling.

When I've stooped with the additions I have made the basic test, results.:

KH - 4.8 ( before balling - 4.2 )

MG - 1200 ( BB - 880 )

CA - 330 ( BB - 240 )

So, things look to be in the right way....

This week I've made some more test.:

KH - 5.8
MG - 1250
CA - 370

What the hell ??!! My values have raised, even knowing that I've stooped the Balling additions. I've made the test twice to ensure that the result is the same.

How can this be happening ? :eek1:

Since I stooped the Balling the Corals that have lost tissue have stop to loose, and they are recovering, and some other corals have again the polyp extension that I like. Others, have the polyp retracted, because my Holacanthus Ciliaris ( I think that there is no problem, because the coral seems to be healthy ).

For know and just to keep some additions of CA, MG and KH, I'm dosing WM CalxMax. When the bootle ends, I will try again the balling but in smaller addition, maybe that's the reason off stress in some corals.

Some other news.... I've introduced another fish... :hammer:
Acanthurus Triostegus

All surgeon fishes ( except the PB tang ) have received the new friend well. There have past 3 days since the introduction, and know it is all ok.

Bye,

João
