Jumping Firefish: How much gap is too much

small alien

The fungus is among us.
I have a standard 75 with the two glass tops. The plastic strip that runs along the back sits up about 1/4" over the edge of the tank. So, the whole run along the back has this gap. Are the two firefish I'm getting tomorrow going to jump through that? How can I close that gap? I don't want to do netting for the whole cover. I like my glass tops.

Thanks.

Any gap is too much.. I'm not joking either, bird netting is really your best option and much better than glass tops when considering gas exchange and heat.

Remember fish actually aim for the holes, they don't just randomly hit them. therefore you have to cover EVERYTHING.

How visible is the back of the tank? If it wouldn't be an eyesore, a little fine mesh netting and some tape will do wonders for the gap along the back very cheaply and quickly.

It was hard to quite grasp fish aim for holes but I've got that. What are they thinking?!? I think something a little sketchy like the netting/tape idea may do me.

Unfortunately, I slide the lids back about an inch to feed and I don't have to move the light fixture to do so. But that's only because the plastic strips readily slide up and over the back trim. I guess I might be able to create some slack with the bird netting. Though now I'm picturing a little fish hanging in its hammock of airy death. Something like the netting/tape will get me and those crazy firefish by. Thanks.
