I know this is completely off the subject, but I am new to the area and was wondering where the best reef stores are.

I guess that depends on what area your in. My favorites are Sarris Underwater Creations in McCalla off of exit 6 I-459 behind Arbys, and Tropical Pet Cove in Alabaster on Hwy 119. There's also Aquarium Designs in Hoover at Patton Creek shopping center.
There's also Aquarium Imports in Hoover and Ed's Pet World in Homewood, but I don't know anyone who buys livestock from them(If anyone has, chime in and let us know if you've had good experiences with either store.)
That's pretty much the B'ham area as far as I know. I hear there are some good stores in Gadsden/Anniston area. And there's one or two in Montgomery.

I buy the majority of my livestock from Aquarium Imports in Hoover, and I have had nothing but good experiences with them.
The store may not look like much (they've been in the same location without a remodel since the '70s), but their livestock is very healthy, and all 3 guys that work there are very knowledgeable and helpful.

I've bought some coral from Aquarium Designs, and it has done very well. they have a larger selection of corals, but I see lots of dead fish in their tanks every time I go in there.

Toytek... Unfortunately not. I lost a very nice 3-headed frogspawn and a frag of the really bright, yellow leather that Chris and Nick had at Sarris about a month and a half ago.
