no. I've had those purples since 1993.

Interesting....

I havent tried mushrooms to be honest, but every other soft coral I've tried gets munched on rapidly by my Regal....I figured Junior would have devoured those purple mushrooms too...

thanks! Sorry I have a question and I haven't really figured out how to post a thread yet... I built my first sump last night (a 10 gallon) and i used masking tape to keep the silicone from getting all over. stupid me put the masking tape between the baffles and now i can't pull that strip out! is this going to harm my fish in the future? or can i safely leave the tape on the tank?

and I've done more stupid things than I can remember!

Masking tape isn't going to harm anything although over time it will loosen up and might jam a pump. I'd do your best to get it out now before it's in water.

Does Junior have an injury along his lateral line by the base of the tail, or is that just his lateral line causing the swirl marks there?

Hey, Nick. Junior is showing the results of success. It's ironic. Everything in my aquarium is growing and space is at a premium. The Emperor won't hesitate to get sideways right into/above the corals in order to snap up big chunks of food- he has no choice because the smaller fishes can easily get into the tight spots to eat food.
It results in Junior getting tattered fins. I also can't help but think I'm not feeding him enough (or a varied enough diet) but I've NEVER seen his hunger satiated and he gets a wide variety of foods. I also think the malfunctioning heater caused some stress in my aquarium. This Emperor has grown larger than many others I've seen in captivity.
