Gary your tank is inspiring. I am setting up am mixed 720 gallon reef. Seeing your entire thread is definitely pushing me towards getting one or two emperors. With your experience would You add them at the same time? As far as livestock at what point would you add the Angels. And sorry for the million questions but do you think that in a large system with heavy feedings I would be able to keep other angels I.E. Regala, dwarf angels inside. Again love your tank!

thanks for the kind words

As for pairing Emperors, you might want to search up John Coppolino (copps on RC) and see what he did.
John is a MASTER reefmaster! :)

It's MY OPINION that if you populate your reef aquarium with lots of diverse microfauna you will GREATLY reduce the amount of food required by the fish you've suggested.
One of the best ways of introducing that microfauna is with the use of some "really live" liverock.
I added my Emperor with some corals already in the aquarium- the NEW CANVAS thread shows exactly when.
If you maintain the aquarium properly, damage by your Imp can be minimized (note my choice of wording. Every fish is different!)
Too much sterility and too many frag tanks nowadays. That's my opinion.
Let me know if you find copps incredible build.... and check out my buddy Bradley Syphus...he's got one helluva reef aquarium!
Good luck with your build!

Although the bulk of my Live rock will be dry. I will be adding about 150 lbs of real live rock to seed. In addition to this I plan on. Using pods and running two fuges in my sump. I'll have about 450-550 lbs of live rock in total. I did see both Copps and Syphus threads. I tried messaging Brad in reference to the mixing of angels but no luck yet on picking his brain. :-). As far as livestock is concerned would you add the emperor towards the end of stocking? Thanks again.

I don't know what you're stocking :)

Best bet is to address stocking order as you actually do it.
Holacanthus and Pomacanthus usually rule the roost after the detritus settles.
I prefer adding small specimens so they "grow into" their environment.

Inwas thinking of stocking Pods, Chromis, Anthias, CBB, Mandarins [6-8 months], then jumping to the Dwarf angels, tangs, Angels and pink tailed, niger or blue throats trigger order.corals would be put in around time of Anthias. Would this seem like the most logical
Order of residents to try to avoid issues long term? It's a 8 ft 720 gallon.

I'm responding from a phone = no lengthy replies to your questions!
Best avoid generalizations and use specifics.
In other words, species...because it matters!
Even individuals within a species can behave very differently! Cannot stress that enough :)

Corals I'm doing acros and Montis. The only softies I would like to keep would be the colts and a nice yellow leather that can grow. I'm hoping to keep Shrooms down in the bottom. Only LPS I'd like to be able to keep would be bubbles and Hammers. From what I've read clams, zoas, and different types of fleshy LPS such as brains are best avoided. Dwarf angels
I'm thinking Singapore and flame. I know the flames are 50/50. Tangs I would add together. 4-5 yellows, black, pbt, Atlantic blue, desjardini, and hippo. Angels regal pair and emperor[pair] although after swing how large Junior was it led me to ask and research. I wonder if copps is on any forum? Sorry for the rant. I have dry tank syndrome right now :-/
