Just a 200G

Nothing big in comparison to whats here, so I feel kind of silly posting in this forum but oh well.

Upgrading from a 130G to a roughly 200G.

72"x30"x22"
75G sump

For now here is a picture of the stand/light set up...still needs to be finished but heres where its at. I will most likely paint it a gloss white but maybe black...not sure until I have the tank up on it.

Tank comes today!

The doors of the stand are on drawer sliders made for kitchen applications. Worked out very nicely I think. I prefer them over hinges personally. Kind of cool how the doors just slide open :D

I will snap some pics tonight of the tank on the stand.

That looks like a very cool room its in. Id like to see a Full Room Shot when you get the tank in place. Congrats on the build, theres not really anything quite like setting up a new tank.

This guy is one of the main reasons I am setting up the bigger tank...talk about active!

That is one of my favorite fish as well.

I will take a full room shot in a day or so. Maybe after I transfer everything over.

Man this thing was heavy! Even for four of us it was a decent work out. I guess the double laminated bottom pane really adds some weight. It ends up making it 3/4" thick.

The tank is in place though. As you can see, its a used tank, not new. In perfect shape though.

Yeah he is great. He won't allow me to keep any shrimp in the tank I don't think though. I have never tried yet but its so hit or miss. Perhaps I can try a few cheaper species to see what he thinks. I have heard adding them before the fish can help, so maybe before he gets transfered over, I will add a few shrimp. We'll see.

So as you can see in the pictures, I am only lighting the tank with 2 Lumenbright reflectors. I just don't need 3 for my plans. Minimal LR and just two main islands. Its also a very mixed reef, not just sps, so the softies and even some of the LPS are fine off the the sides a bit.

I am using the same ballast and lights from my current set up which is a Dual 400 Watt PFO ballast (just regular, not HQI) and XM 20K bulbs. I was thinking of switching to an HQI ballast for a hotter, whiter look but I kind of like the blue of the 20K's on my current ballast...may as well save some money.

I will continue to run ZEO I think although my reactor will be undersized on this tank. Oh well, I am not interested in getting a bigger one :)

Some room and tank shots from this morning. Lights don't come on until 3pm though The blue light is just temporary for the pics, so you could see something at least. Everything is done including sump and plumbing but I still don't quite have enough water made to run the sump yet I was able to test the system and had no problems but the sump still needs about 30 more gallons or so. Otherwise its loud and filled with micro bubbles. I will take some pics of the sump later today.

Very stylish set up, and living area... I like that a lot.

Thanks!

I am pretty proud of how the stand turned out since I am not very good with building things. Even though its very simple, it was a lot of work for me. I found though that as long as I go really slow, I can figure it out :D

Not that much to see under the stand. Its a real mess of cords right now but here we go:

The doors slide on drawer sliders like I said earlier. Thanks Lastlight for this idea!

The right side. Plumbing, skimmer, ZEO reactor...thats it.

The left side. Ballast with fans, ATO can and my controller will be somewhere in that mess.

The nicest thing about ZEO so far has been the lack of equipment :) I have only run ZEO a few months but its the best thing I have done for my tanks. Obviously it has helped the nutrient levels in the tank and colored up the corals nicely but as an added bonus, it eliminated so much equipment from my sump! Its nice not to have to worry about much.

You could not come up with a better tank design for that room if you tried, Its simple perfect.

Now you have to show us under then tank...

You must have been typing as I was posting the under the stand pics. Its really messy under the stand still.

Quite simple though. Really not too much to see. I got overly complicated with the last few builds and have had enough of a crowded stand with all kind of equipment and crazy plumbing. This is just a simple herbie style drain straight down to one side of the sump, water flows through the skimmer, through the ZEO reactor and then to the return pump. Just one baffle in the middle of the sump to keep the water level of the skimmer constant and the return section a bit lower so the ATO comes on quite often. This is the same sump set up I had on the last tank and worked perfectly. Its by FAR the least complicated sump but by FAR the best I have ever used.

Thanks for the compliments :)

Few pictures with the lights on. I would say about half the coral browned after the move :( Hopefully the color will come back with time and good water. Oh and ZEO of course...I know that will help get this thing looking good again!

Greay setup. I also like the ways the doos slide open. And... of course I love the Barcelona-Chairs. Very nice!

That's a pretty good sized wave!

Yeah I am getting about 1.5" wave now. I had it up to 2" but it started to get a bit much.
