Just a 200G

Full tank...just the one halide on still.

Im excited...look at that whole empty side of the tank, still waiting to be stocked with LPS!

Got a free Bubbletip clone over the weekend. Actually its a decent size already. Free because the mother anemone has lost color in my friends tank and he wants to see how it does in mine (plus I dont think he wants two of them in his tank anyways). It was in his sump for a week with little to no light but still looks ok after just a day or two in my tank.

I don't know if its stopped moving yet but I hope so. It was on the move all day yesterday. Hopefully its happy now.

You can see the placement in this picture.

Great upgrade Justin. If I ever get those reflectors I would hang them open like you did, love that look. I thought the tank was not level at first cause the first three pic's showed the wave at the same spot in the tank. When you posted something about it not being level the wave was at the other end and knew you were joking. :) You must be very pleased with the new tank and fish. Good job

What a beautiful mixed reef you've got going...the aquascaping is minimal, but still very natural looking.
The design of the room goes so well with your tank. Nice work.

Thanks!

Yeah the wavebox is pretty crazy. I have actually had to throttle it back a bit to keep the water from splashing up on the eurobracing too much.

Thank you.

As I add more coral, I have been adding little islands of LR. Nothing much but like 3-5lbs. at a time. Mostly just for coral placement. The tank still looks the same but I am adding small, low islands all over. Keeps things open still but gives some good options for corals. Hopefully it stays looking natural too.

I am all about natural. I actually feel the tank has way too much sps as of now. I am on the look out for more gorgonians and hopefully some LPS. Nothing fancy but just stuff like frogspawn or hammers. I would also like to find a spot for a nice sized torch coral.

I will take some updated photos tomorrow evening.

Added about 20 lbs. of LR the past week and so did some rearranging. Finally got the left side of the tank done too.

I am finding that there is way too much sps though and not enough variety or diversity. Not looking natural enough for me :) So I am after some more softies and LPS right now.

I have some beautiful photosynthetic sea fans coming from Cuba in a month or so too that will really finish this tank off I think. As well as a variety of photosynthetic gorgonians from both Cuba and Florida hopefully.

Really needs some time to grow in but I am starting to see some potential I think :)

Just very nice tank! Love the tusk! Still miss ya on the dark side (FOWLR) a pair of bluethroats would look nice in that tank!

Read my mind :)

Once the tank has been running a little longer that is the plan. I just want to be sure the tank can handle the load. Right now nitrates are 0 and I hope they stay there. Adding the triggers right now could cause a spike I think.

Maybe in a month or two.

very nice tank
by the way where did u get light hanger?
i thought about same way u did
because mine is going to be a rimless tank

I made it out of conduit piping made for electrical applications. I used the 3/4" stuff. Worked out very well I think. Only about $40 to make both.

They are bolted to the back of the stand.

ok!!
thanks will try to do the same

Should be able to just go to Home Depots electrical section and get the pipes and fittings you need. Actually it was just two 3/4" pipes, pipe cutters ($13) and two 90 elbows. Thats it.

great!!thanks for the info
by the way don't mean being stupid
how u mount it on the stand?
thanks!

I mounted mine on the back frame (2x4's) with "U" shaped conduit pipe straps. Same section as the pipes. I would make sure the vertical pipe goes all the way to the ground.

These are the straps:
