I got my new tripod today. So I decided to take some pictures.
Feedback and advice are more than welcome.

All pictures look great.....now for the advice, I don't want to come off sounding rude, but I went through this with other types of pictures.

would have looked better if you would have cleaned the glass first.

Look a little over exposed, watch your flash

A little bit cropped to close, would have looked better with more background

Looks good but would have looked better with a little more DOF
you can make this type of picture look better if you darken the background...Hope you don't mind here is what Im taking about

Those are very nice pics. The tripod made a huge difference for my shaky hands too.

I like how you darkened the background.. Did you do that in photoshop? If so, how?

Not to put edwing206 down...I think they look great. I started shooting pictures of my tank and I found out if you shot at a lower Fstop you will get a darker backround. I shoot photo of my tank with a 100mm macro lens. BTW yes Edit was done in CS3 selected the backround and adjusted the levels.

Not sounding rude at all. I appreciate your advice and showing how I can make the picture look better. I actually didn't crop the pictures at all, I just had the lens zoomed in all the way. I'll zoom out a little bit next time. I didn't use flash so how can I not overexpose the pictures?

Maybe its just the refection from your lights are you running MH.?
Maybe you want to under expose your pictures a little.....Maybe its just me but looks a little washed out....need a little depth.
BtW Im no expert on taking the best pictures...these are just the comments I get from other people about my shots. What Im finding out is taking pictures of underwater is much harder the taking pictures out in the bright sunlight

I'm running 500 watts of MH on my 60 so it's kinda a lot of light. I tested different settings to see what came out best. I'll keep seeing what comes out best.

For sure you have to play again with your setting....Its always different.....Ive taking some nice shots with the tank lights off and just used a flash, as you can see here

Canon Xti....Lens for the clam shot was Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM Lens

Now that looks good.....some people may think it looks dark. But it gives it that natural look
