Just a quick lighting question

I have a 36" coralife 96W aqualight on my 30gal tank right now with just a few mushrooms, zoo's, small kenya trees, and few yellow polyps in there. The tank is filled up a little more then 3/4 of the way (because i ran out of salt). Will the light not be as efficient because of the lower water level? is the light weaker now with lower water level? im just trying to figure out if its worth it to go out and buy salt (BTW this is a temporary tank, two weeks maybe).

thanks.

i woudl think the light would b more effective w/ the lower water level. the energy of light waves decreases the deeper it gos thru water.

But you also increased the distance from the light to the water. So im not sure which causes more loss of light
