Just added 3 lamarcks angels video

My Lamark likes to nip corals also but it's not as bad as it looks. Which corals are they nipping?

How can you tell the difference between males and females?
Look at the banding on the tail (caudal fin). "caudal fin with black dots, female with broad black band on the dorsal and ventral edges; pelvic fins white in female, black in male"

Of the three I added, one seems to be the major nipper - inflicting some pretty agressive and repetitive bites on certain corals. I have two lobophyllia which were retracted to skeletons. I pulled those out of the tank (I have an LPS hospital in the sump).

Also, they are nipping at my Acans. I pulled 8 of those colonies out as well.

They seem to be leaving euphyllia, clams, acros, war corals, montis, and xenia alone.

No luck with the fish trap yet. The one I really want to catch won't go in there.

I can be patient and see what happens from this point... since I have pulled out the main victim corals for some TLC and fattening up in my sump. I'm leaving them in "on probation" at this point.

Do you keep them well fed?

Ever thought of putting coral in the fish trap?

Also I agree with Peter that the males are the only ones to get the yellow dot on the head.

And I just noticed you are in the next town over. Maybe sometime I could check out the tank?

LOL! I DID think about putting coral in the trap! That would sort out the naughtiest one for sure. I feed once or twice per day.... Ill try kicking that up. It would be fun to have you over and see the tank sometime.

If you do a search through ALL the genicanthus threads in this forum, I guarantee that you will find Lamarck's to be the worst coral eating offenders.

Well, SON OF A BISCUIT! :thumbdown At least they are relatively cheap.

No major nipping today... but they seem a little too curious about he corals to me. Getting them used to dining in "Chez Fish Trap" for now.

I had a Lamarck go to town on my Lps after 5 days in my tank. I also had to get a fish trap to get him out of there. I would think twice about trying another one.
