Just another SPS tank

What coral is the first picture with the orange polyp and also the one with blue polyp and yellow base?

Oh, and there is the encrusting monti as well that has blue polyps with a yellow base. If you mean that one it was sold as a "ziggy stardust".

I think the ones you are referring to..

Green with blue polyps is the ORA Bird of Paradise.
Blue with Green Polyps is a Pokerstar monti.

Both very common and inexpensive.

Thanks! Sorry, not sure what it means to have a "topic" for my tank?

I'm sorry, I mean a thread of your tank in the section 'large tanks' of this forum ;-)

Please post more photos when boredom strikes- I can't get enough of a clean, well maintained peninsula tank , esp with the crispy metal halides- I am a fan of the 14k phoenix. Great photos, and tank you for having a great thank. lol

great pics, great tank, and great camera!

I only have one sps frag, it's a great deal of work in my system, I can't imagine upkeep you do to keep them looking so healthy

Absolutely stunning!! Any chance you could do a direct FTS for both sides?

The next time I get bored, sure :-)

ah! Ya, I thought about that. Why doesn't RC have a specific forum just for tank journals/build threads ??? I'm not sure where I would put mine.. It's not a "large tank" since it's only 150g and not 180g+. It has some SPS but a bunch of LPS too. Guess I could just put it under "Reef Discussion".

I'm a fan of those bulbs too. Have been using them for forever and don't plan to change that up anytime soon. The tank is right smack dab in the middle of the house separating our living room and dining room so it can't ever look like ***. EVER! :lmao:

Thanks. It's actually not that bad. There is nothing that I have to do on a daily basis. Ever 3 to 4 days I'll clean the glass with the magfloat. Once a week I'll empty out my skimmer cup and top up my ATO reservoir. Once every two weeks I do a 15(ish)% water change. Once a month I change out my carbon and GFO. Once every 6-8 months I top up my biopellets. Once a year I swap out my bulbs.

Amazing pictures and a beautiful tank! Nice Job Kien, keep the eye candy coming....

Thanks :-)

Everything looks amazing! Keep sharing!

Is the 6th coral in your first post a M. Capitata?

What is this and where can I get one?

I love your system! Can I move in! :D Do most montipora rainbows look like that? Most of the ones I see are just in color and not all that pretty.

Here to pay my respect to a fellow CND small polyp photography nut with epic photos of epic corals :) please keep sharing

Fantastic,I am out of words.
Can you write something about the feeding regime for your fish and corals.

Hi! And a fellow peninsula tank lover too ! :-D

DANG! Those are some of the nicest corals I have ever seen. What kind of camera did you use?

Either my Canon 40D or 5D Mark II with canon 100mm macro.

I do not directly or purposefully feed my corals. I never have actually.. My fish are on an Eheim autofeeder feeding NLS pellets twice a day. If I have time in the evenings I'll feed them something previously frozen. Every other day I drop a sheet of nori into the tank.
