Things With Stings R Us!
Heyas Kay,

Here's that photo I mentioned of the C. racemosa getting ready to go sexual vs. healthy macro. Note the dark green spots, which are a dead giveaway.

Here is the tank we let go sexual on purpose:

Thanks so much, Greg! I feel special!

I'm going to take a picture of the white tips on my C. prolifera tonight if you don't mind looking at it tomorrow. Perhaps I am confusing new growth.

I have been trying to pull that stuff out of my reef for weeks. How do I keep it from going sexual, and is there a good way to get rid of it? Should I keep some of this going in another tank for my eventual seahorse set up? Sorry for coming into a conversation that is probably prefaced with something important:hammer:

Hi Greg,
Here are 2 photos I have questions about:

This one has the white tips, which are more clear than white. And really half of the leaf, not just the tip.

These pieces are fuzzy, and I noticed that the fuzz is moving over to the back wall of the tank.

Not sure if these are what I'm supposed to be pulling or leaving alone.

Thanks for your help!

No problem. Your questions are relevant to our discussion. Keeping on top of the pruning before it goes sexual is the key. The pictures that Greg posted are when he purposely let the macro go sexual. The tank was fine after a good water change and some carbon.

Hey can I jump in on this conversation too?
I was warned that eventually my jungle of caluerpa prolifera WOULD go sexual, period.
He didn't tell me that there was anything to do to stop it from doing so. He just told me to try switching it out for turtle grass. Which I have begun, However... I noticed the change in my tank two nights ago and began ripping it out.
Can pruning it back in the future help?
