Just found a HUGE Mantis

yeah but the whole things is he doesnt want them in there, at least they would be going to a home where they will be taken care of...hopefully

Since the contents of this tank except for liverock will be moved over to my 300 , I have decided to leave them be until the tank is totally torn down. That won't be until sometime in February.

If it was me I would have taken everything apart just to get them out, I couldn't live knowing they are still there, that's just me...

Maited pairs of Mantis shrimp is not the norm. Most are solitary critters, and for that reason alone, I would set up a tank just for them. I would guess that a 65g. would suffice to keep them.
Any chance of some pictuers of the happy couple?

If you don't have any other crustaceans in the system that you value then you could probably kill that bad boy using interceptor at the dose used for redbug treatment.

I would dose it and wait for the sucker to get wobbly which should occur within 6 hours and then catch him or simply wait for him to kick the bucket. Obviously it would be better to catch 'em up and put in interceptor free water to revive if possible so someone can enjoy them. They are really neat critters.

It will kill off your pod's and mysis so it might be a good idea to take some rock out first to help kick start the population of good crustaceans.

...Funny how folks that frequent the mantis shrimp forum tend to frown upon talk of killing them.;)

(I actually didn't realize that was where the thread originated because it came up on a search for something unrealted but caught my eye)

I hope I didn't ruffle too many feathers.

cheers.
