Well when I got home today I found these lil guys on the glass not sure if they are bad or not?

either monti eating nudis (bad) or berghia nudis (aptasia eaters [good]). If have you monti (either caps or branching) i'd check to see if there are on them. Either that, or if you have aptasia pull the nudi and a rock with aptasia on it and see if it eats it.

Well is that a monti in the picture? Asterina starfish will follow MEN and eat the dead tissue. Being that you have nudis, asterina starfish, and a monti all in one photo would worry me. Just my guess though. Good luck!

They do look like monti eating nudis but dont worry about the astrina, they are the good guys IMO. Astrinas just clean up dead tissue and algae without causing any issue. Their population will also be controlled by the amount of food in the tank for them.

+1. I have many of those asternia stars and they do nothing but clean. As for the nudi's I would say they are the monti eating ones.

What is the fix for these lil monti eating buggers? Is there a good natural predator for em? Thankx for the input!

my six line takes care of them for me and I would just watch those stars, although many are good guys there are some species that eat coral.....

100% Monti Eater, a huge on indeed.

Better finds those eggs, because even if you kill the current ones those eggs will continue the cycle.

+1 Do a daily nudi egg search. They look like a spiral of white eggs about 1/4" in diameter. Best spots to start looking would be need any monti that is suffering or has tissue loss. The eggs will be in the shadows and in crevasses. Scrape them with toothbrushes, toothpick, Water-pick, teeth cleaning tools work well. If you don't have teeth to take care of I am sure a screw diver will work.

Never have seen or found an effective cure for them.

They will kill all your montis. Once they starve, then you can reintroduce montis to the system.

:wavehand:Hey man. Those might not be so good. (grin turning to frown) I had those creatures in my tank at one point. They didn't decimate every monti but took out a number and then spongeodes (spelling) too.

Are those in your frag tank?

A melunarus should take care of it
Do you have any type of montipora? They will eventually die out if you dont have any montis
Plus those asterias are no good bc they will eat your zoanthids and palythoas.

I have had tons of asterinas in my tank (the white ones) and they never ate my zoas unless they were already sick and dying. I am thinking the blue ones are the kind that are to worry about. Just my experience, in my opinion I would not worry about the asterinas and worry about the monti eating nudis. Unless you see tons of the starfish killing your healthy zoas but I doubt that will happen.
