Just got a shock !

five seconds ago my tank was crystal clear . now this !!!!

turns out after taking this picture , I spoted a bristtle worm poke his butt out and let go another spray....... Skimmer's already going crazy !
 
was more than one worm . looked like it came from three or four locations. saw it with my own eyes . 100% sure it was the worms. I've had snails do the same thing (just not as cloudy . tank was back to clear in about two hours. I'm just hoping my skimmer got most of it. or I'll be looking at about 1,000,000 worms in no time :O
 
I've never seen this from bristleworms, but I wouldn't doubt it. I've seen synchronized spawnings with urchins that really cloud up a tank. Carbon won't help, just run your skimmer really "wet" for awhile, and consider doing water changes. Some people add micron filter bags to their overflows to help wth this, but these need to be set up correctly so that they don't clog.

Really fascinating. Would not have guessed bristeworms could cause this. (I happened to see a blackfoot trochus spawn yesterday, but there was no noticeable cloudiness in my approx. 300 gallon system.)
