I'm so happy! Today I got my first coco worm and I can't seem to pry myself away from the tank. I'm fascinated. Just wanted to share my enthusiasm with you all.

I remember my first coco worms, back in the 80's... I'm envious--how fun for you! Nowadays it takes a $250 frag to get me only half as excited...!

Great! I can imagine because I did the same with my first coco.

Is it the red and white one? Or some other color?

He's (oh, and it's a boy now, lol) red and white. I'm not sure what to feed him, however. I've heard he's a filter feeder and can eat many different things, but what do you suggest I feed him? do you target feed?

It's the little things in life, isn't it? :p

Haha, I call mine a boy too, Umm, I don't really target feed it, but I give the tank a mixture of marine snow and phytoplankton, zooplankton, and this Chromamax by Kent. They're all good for my corals and stuff, especially the non-photo ones.

But I think it will most likely eat phytoplankton. Wait til an expert comes in on this.

For all filter feeders (including my SPS) I like to stop by the seafood market and pick up a fresh oyster, or mussell--and I've even used frozen (but thawed) mysis--and then I take a small chopping of the shellfish, combine it with about a 1/4 cup of tank water, and then PULVERIZE it with my Braun hand (stick) blender. I do about 10 seconds of the blender, then let it cool for a minute of two (so it doesn't cook from the heat of the blender), then again with blender, maybe even cool/blend once more. Makes a very fine particle food that is about as free of phosphates as you're going to get. Not to mention it's fresh...! Plus you can add whatever supplements--vitamens, Selecon--that you want.
