Just got my ReefKeeper Elite setup :)

Got tubes?
Hi all!

I just finished setting my RKE up. So far, I love it!

I have a few gripes, mainly that there's no quick and easy access to manually controlling outlets and not being able to name outlets on the head unit (Aquatronica spoiled me on those), but other than that I'm loving it! The NET module is really nice and I love the RSS feeds. There is still a lot I need to dig into, but everything is basically up and running for now. :)

I ended up just mounting it to a 1"x8"x26" piece of pine, and that worked out really well because there's also a little bit of space next to my sump underneath to shove wires into. :D

Here are a few pictures:

Notice the room at the top for more modules. ;) I'll be getting an SW5 or two as soon as I can. Also, the masking tape will be replaced with labels from my label maker once I get some plastic tape for it.

Now I've got to figure out how I'm going to mount my level switch. :) I'm also going to do a snail guard of some sort... maybe I can find a film canister...

 Yeah, I finally started the RSS feed so its on ReefNook. :D

And of course its fun... I'm one of the worst gadget geeks!

The funny thing is that it came up during my interview the other day. The main manager that was interviewing me was asking me the normal questions. He asked a few and then asked the other manager if he had any questions, and the guy was like "Ummm... I just have one question. I really want to know more about your aquarium computer" and he smiled real big. I kind of laughed, but the awesome part is that I was able to turn it into a job skill and told them how I setup a SQL server for my Aquatronica to log to and so I could pull up graphs and all that good jazz. They just laughed. It was neat. :)

I'm going to work on my signature picture thingy later. Too many other things to do right now. ;)

Well my camera won't take pictures from outside! I'm up against the wall... literally!

James wasn't kidding when he said I barely have room for air in my setup. :D

having seen behind your tank, I'm amazed to see a picture from that angle:) must be nice to be young and nimble :):):)
I have to leave 3 feet behind my tank to just get me & my belly in there:)

Its still quite a challenge to get back there and work. I used to HATE cleaning my skimmer because it would mean that I would have to squat back there for possibly 20 minutes, of which at that point, if you're over 14, you're going to hate it. :D

You wouldn't believe how much doing this cleaned up the way it looks back there. I will have to take some before and after photos. Its fairly drastic.

Yeah, I did! It just hadn't updated in my router for some reason. Usually my router is awesome at keeping things straight. I actually just changed my password and when I did this and saved it on my router, it updated the IP. :)

myreef.gotdns.org

Unfortunately, tho, there's nothing to see there unless you log in. I'm going to ask for some basics on the public page like my Aquatronica did. It makes it a neat thing to share it with friends and family... you know, stupid reef tricks. :D

So did you get it setup to automate the opening of your sliding glass door when the PH drops below the set threashold yet

I thought about installing an exhaust fan and if PH dropped too low have it kick on the exhaust fan and pull air out.

That's actually a cool idea!

Thank you!! After setting up the ATO with a reservoir float I realised that this might work. Same exact thing as the ATO DIY kit would do it. I have a bathroom down there across the room and could wire a relay to trigger power on using a 3 way switch system so I can have the RKE turn it on, or use the switch on the wall. I just have to figure out the best way to hide the wiring since this is my basement area and all foundation along the way.

Not made one yet. Its the end of the semester, man, I don't have time for no goofy image that only dorks use.

:p :D

;)
