I just got my t5s in today and they are sweet

if you're considering t5s, go for it, they're great, I dont have them on the tank (empty) yet, but I can tell this is a lot of light

I decided to go big or go home and went with a 6x24 set up for my tank

the guy I bought it from sent 11 free bulbs with, some used, some new, so I'll have to tinker around with different configs and see which one looks best....tough to tell when you dont even have water in the tank though

wow that 6 is going to be bright on that tank.. That might be more light than a 250 mh I will have to see that.

you can test your configuration on my tank..........and then leave them once you figure it out.

I got 4 and think they're bright.

on my 40BR back in the day I did a 1x250 MH + 2x55 PC and loved the MH

but I dont want 360 watts of light going when I can accomplish the same thing for less

I might end up only using 4 bulbs on this, its not like IM an SPS and clam only dude

the unit is actually pretty sweet, it has a built in fan on it that runs when one of the 2 switches is on, so I could have actinics on one switch w/o fan and then have the daylights come on with fan at a different time

That's what I do latazyo. Do you have the finnex fixture?

That's what I have 4 bulb fixture. I have a teal colored crocea living just fine under it.

its an ultralightfixture...looks like a pretty good rig, its got a plexiglass protector over the lights

since Ive only had MH in the past, I am not sure if the endcaps are waterproof or not, but either way they're protected by the plexi cover

each bulb has its own reflector, I'll try to get some shots of it over my empty tank

Be careful that you don't have too much light on that tank. T-5 light is much more intense that you would think, and the individual reflectors make it even more intense.

that is what people dont understand... these are at least 2 x brighter than halides for the wattage. 96 watts of t5 side by side with a 150 de halide on my 75 looked like night lights and moon lights when compared.

6 bulbs may be a lil much especially with individual reflectors...

good luck

here are some pics I took

this is the bulb configuration that came with the fixture

here is a shot of the unit out of the packaging with the plexi cover slid out to show the bulbs...on the left you can barely see the attached fan

here is a shot of the lights lit up over the tank

everytime I see this light it hurts my eyes
as I mentioned Im only going to use 4 bulbs in this set up (at least at first)

yes, all 6 bulbs is shown in the pic in the configuration I posted...some of the bulbs I hadnt heard of before, but I knew of the geismanns

its impossible for me to tell what kind of config I want without any livestock or water for that matter
