Just how tough are flatworms????75 SYSTEM RESET

System reset DAY 2

System reset DAY 2

system reset.

It may be early.

But no losses.
30 SPS frags in particular...they are not blowing in the current as per usual however, there is polyp extension and nothing is closed tight and looking like death/bleaching is around the corner.

No flatworms. Yet.

And of course the large leathers are not skipping a beat and are opening fully.

Water was slightly clouded for most of yesterday but has cleared almost to crystal.

I hope this is an outside case. But it may mean that the dance has begun...or maybe the fat lady beginning to sing.

One of my higher end acro frags is stressing bigtime. The others look fine...however...I just hope this is not the beginning of loss of the sps frags.

Fingers crossed.

minimal problems at the moment.

minimal problems at the moment.

Well here's the score at the top of the 3rd so far.

Flatworms -0- to Mike several thousand flatworm kills.

SPS dead 1

29 SPS still alive and kicking.

Tank parameters good. No sign of any flatworms...yet.

Well, the tide has not changed for the worse.

In fact, the 29 SPS frags have been gaining ground and appear to have polyp extension coming back to levels of larger frags I cut them from.

So losses in that department appear to be just one frag.

And so far no flatworms on the scene.

My next objective will be to wait it out 1 week and inspect for redbugs with a magnifying glass. If they came along, eggs or with the frags then I would think they would have hatched and became apparent by then.

I will update.

IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!

-0- flatworms.

I inspected each and every acro frag last night for redbugs with magnifying glass and I could not find the redbugs. I could not see any eggs of any kind on the frag bases.

I am still going to keep looking but I believe I got them.

RECIPE I USED.

RECIPE I USED.

With contents of 75 shoehorned into 20 gallon.

So for a 20 gallon HIGH tank with the contents of the 75 and topped off with the original tank water. (Snails were dosed in this too. But hermits were removed and are in a quarantine until they are clear in 2 to 3 months)

For 20 gallons.

I used 1/8 of a tab of INTERCEPTOR for MEDIUM dogs (11.5 mg milibemycin oxime, 114 mg praziquantel). To Kill off redbugs. I think this is 2 or 3 times the dosage for 20 gallons. Seen so many threads that the amounts are vague. I picked an overkill amount and stuck with it.

And I used 10 times the dosage of FLATWORM EXIT or 40 drops per 5 gallons of water. So for the 20 gallon of total volume I ended up using 160 drops of FLATWORM EXIT.

OR

Short Form
20 gal/t vol. redbug/ flatworm (not acro eating kind) removal cocktail = 1/8 Interceptor Tab (11.5 mili ox/ 114mg praz) + 160 drops Flatworm Exit + 18 hour soak
