Just ordered a Venustus...

You'd think with the trouble people seem to have with Venustus, DD would start to carry them more frequently.

I would say it is a good thing they don't sell many fish that are difficult to keep alive. Yes, probably it is a good business but better leave the fish in the ocean. So in my opinion, responsible business from DD.
The steeper price tag also may help in preventing people to just buy the fish, lets give it a shot.

I was thinking more along the lines of having a more trusted and reputable source in DD compared to some of the other online retailers that currently offer this fish.

When it comes to delicate species, I think most of us would be willing to pay the premium that comes with knowing Kevin Kohen and his staff have gotten a fish eating and in good health before shipping it, I know I do.

My point was that currently, the market rarely has that option with this particular species.

I wasn't trying to say the price was unreasonable at all, just noting that it is quite a bit higher than the last time they were offered.

+1 I wish DD would bring them in more often if that is a possibility.

I thought it was on the high end of what I would call reasonable. With the speed at which it sold, they probably could have listed it for more.

Like I said, people are willing to pay that premium for DD fish...it's money well spent.

Sorry, been busy all weekend. Here are some poor pics of the Venustus during acclimation...sorry for the quality but pics weren't a huge priority..(the one that sadly passed)

From the response I received from liveaquaria, more Venustus are on the way. Not sure if I'll try to grab one or wait for Jocs.

Just to stoke the Venustus fever. This is my trio.

The one in the background is the dominant one. Foreground venustus, is the only one of the trio which still has the blue at its head area.

The top fish is the 3rd venustus of the trio. I noticed its yellow coloration is more orange compared to the other two.

Mr Dominant asserting himself again.

Funnily the blue headed Venustus which bears most of the brunt of dominance chasing is the most active and eats quite well compared to the other two.

So what u guys waiting for? Get your venustus!

Actually, the blue harbor website has two very tiny specimens list right now. Barely an inch long if IIRC. No idea on pricing for them though.

Sooooo....Was anyone in this thread lucky enough to snatch one or both of the Venustus tonight? They were both sold in less than 2 minutes.
