So, I ordered my camera (Nikon D5000) yesterday and it shipped out today, should get it at the end of the week. I'd love to see some pictures any of you have taken with this camera to see what it's capable of. If you have pictures with the kit lens that'd be great as it may be a few months before I decide on and actually buy my first lens. If not, please post what type of lens you used. Thanks a bunch.

Those are some real nice shots! Thanks for posting.
Do you shoot in RAW and then process them later or are you mainly shooting in JPEG?

If you're not planning on doing any post processing, you should should shoot in JPG mode. Really. RAW gives you more data to work with in processing but it needs to be processed correctly to make it better than JPG. Simply switching the camera to RAW will not instantly improve your images.

Remember there are no motors in this camera to drive the AF lens, so you will need to buy the lens that have the motor's in them, i.e. AF-S (G), they are a few hundred more than the same lens in none -S.

I found this out the hard way and sent back the D3000. They are very nice cameras, but the cost of the lens forced me to return it.

make sure you look in the description of the lens for # AF not supported by D40, D60, D3000 & D5000 cameras.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com is a great place to see if they work or not.. You can always buy std. AF lens and just manual focus, but that is too much work for me.

I shoot in RAW incase I need to adjust the white balance or do anything else to the picture. I have been lucky so far that I haven't needed to do any post processing.

You can use any f mount lens with it, if the lens is not af-s you will just have to live with manual focus, which isn't that bad.

I'm aware of the lens situation with this camera, I've done my research. I'm also aware of the post processing being a part of shooting in RAW. I was mainly looking for photos shot with this camera, to get me a little pumped up about getting it in. Thanks for the responses though.
