The Maxima's doing well itself, but one side of its shell (in a low-flow area) has grown some turf looking algae on it. It's fine, but annoying.
And in regards to superglue gel or epoxy putty, if you can get away with just using the gel, I would go that route. If done properly, that epoxy/superglue sandwich works @#$%! good! If you ever want a change up, it's a real booger to break it loose from your rock.
ALSO though, remember to start that little beauty down on your sand for a while to get used to your lighting. I bleached out some Monti caps baaad because I didn't think to acclimate them to my increased lighting. In the wise words of Homer Simpson, "D'oh!" :headwally:
Other than a monticap this will be my first sps. Got a 5" Fiji birds nest from divers den.
Any words of wisdom?
I got Mars aqua which is same as reed breeders and they are growing sps fast. BN are no harder than ur manticap. Pic?
Pic of the coral?
What's your phosphate at?
My plan is to put it on the top of the structure on the left. How does that sound?
Oh oh sure. I got some pics with my old phone but I got a new one so I'll take some more shots with it. Hang in a sec and I'll post em.
Your rockscaping is really great!
I have my Mars Aqua lights blasting at 100% but tank is only 4 months old so I will adjust should any corals begin to complain. So far the sps love the lights; I have a pair of large caps both have added about 1/4 inch rim in little over a month.
Good luck!! They're fairly hardy corals and should do fine once used to the light.
Question - what color(s) is your monti? It looks striped in the picture... is that just because of the lighting?
How long have you had your Mandarin?
It looks great to me! Nice size too. I would still leave it low and slowly raise it over time though.
Great purchase, Ben!
