Just placed Diver's Den Order -- please read!

Dear LA,

I just placed an order with your diver dens for the 5 Leptacanthus (threadfin) cardinals (and several corals), A2583875.

A couple months ago I ordered 10 from your non-Divers Den section, and they all died due to shipping stress.

I beg you to please use an abnormally large amount of water and care when shipping these to me, this time.

This fish is far more sensitive to stress due to shipping than most other fish. Sure, they are hardy once they acclimate, but their risk to hypoxia and ammonia is well known.

Please please use extra water and care with these.. I have shaped my tank around getting a healthy school (gotten rid of all aggressive species such as my clowns and wrasses, which were heart breaking) and am anxious to give them a suitable and comfortable home!

Thanks!

King-Kong,

Hey LA,

Got the package in a little over an hour ago, got everyone acclimated, and just placed them in the tank.

The pink millepora was a little smaller than expected, but it has maintained great color during the shipping, and almost immediately threw it's polyps out (http://www.d3f.org/misc/fish/90g/liveaquaria-11-2007/110807-151a.jpg)!

The Robusta was MUCH larger than expected (http://www.d3f.org/misc/fish/90g/liveaquaria-11-2007/lg_101907-102a.jpg) -- very nice specimen, and cancels out the smaller mille ;) ! It's polyps are also already out.

The acan lord's look as promised, as well (http://www.d3f.org/misc/fish/90g/liveaquaria-11-2007/110907-051a.jpg).

The threadfins are all swimming together right now and so far everything seems great.

I would like to thank you very much for taking extra care in the shipping. Each individual fish was bagged in its own bag, with several layers and total darkness (black liners on top and bottom). Water was extremely ample and seemed ot be about 3/4+ of 1 gallon for each fish -- a great amount.

Despite my issues in the past with some of the more difficult fish (dispars, recently), I still continue to shop with your company due to your willingness to work with customers and facilitate communication, while offering a good product. Thank you.

Well everyone made it over night, so a small victory for these tough shippers.

What were you guys feeding them? I would like to keep them eating ASAP and fatten them up.

King-Kong,

The Longspine Cardinalfish requires a well balanced diet of meaty foods. We are currently offering frozen mysis and brine shrimp soaked in Selcon and Garlic Xtreme in the Aquaculture Coral & Marine Life Facility.
Please let us know if you have further questions or concerns.

This is a great example of why LA is a fantastic place to order from. I have done so several times in the past and will continue to do so in the future. :)

small update:

so far everyone is swimming well.

I have been feeding small amounts of live phyto-soaked brine today, and 1 of the cardinals has quickly taken a liking to it, and has become very aggressive towards the food, rushing away from the school to eat. 2 others started testing, but so far nothing from 2.

Still early, though.
