I just switched to an AquaMedic 250W MH Pendant HQI light and man it is BRIGHT! Blows my PC out of the water. Do I need to slowly adjust my corals and fish to the new light and if so how do I do it?

I am about to upgrade to MH and was thinking the exact same thing.

It seems like it might be damaging to double (or even triple) the light so quickly...

You DO need to acclimate your corals. They are being exposed to a totally different spectrum and intensity. Shorter photo periods with a gradual increase every day. Also hang the light higher above the water surface and gradually lower to it's final posistion. I would do this over the peroid of a month.

I have the same light and like it, had it about a year.

Acclimating, I have heard of putting window screen between the light and water to provide a little shade at first. Maybe even two layers of screen.

Raise the height of the lights and slowly lower them to the height you want over time. When I switched to MH's I had them at 13" and over a few weeks brought them down to 8".
Might want to shorten up on light duration for a while and then start to increase it back to where you want it after corals adjust.
fish should be fine but keep you eyes on the corals. They will be the first to tell you when something is wrong.
