Justin's 82G - clownfish harem journal

Sorry if I missed something here, but was all of this due to some bad carbon? That completely sucks, I really hope it all works out. I loved that tank with those nems!

Thanks guys

Glad to see things beginning to turn around. Not sure whether you mentioned this, but how are the mertensi and the other mag doing?

I never had a merts though the tentacles on the gig you're referring to did look weird but that's because the last photo I took was when it was acclimating. I lost one gig & one mag total on anemones.

I hope the Carbon people try to get a Gig and a Mag back for you.

I asked for a nice mag if they can find but I held out on them getting me a gig, I don't want to chance them IDing wrong as I do not have any space for another Haddoni. I hopefully will be getting an email this week from Ariel about when she will be going to LA so I can make sure the date it arrives I'll be home to take care of the shipment.

It's a porcelain (anemone) crab, they are super fun to watch hanging out on anemones.

+1 and agreed they are fun to watch.

Well I have been battling a little algae as of late due to my crash, I also have a few dead spots due to having a centered weir overflow box, needless to say over holiday break I will be reaquascaping back to minimalistic from my current "channel" style scape which is causing the problems. I've been busy so this update sadly hasn't came sooner!

Blue Life USA is going to do two different shipments for me, this time around I got a Whitetail Bristletooth Tang, 20 Astrea Snails & 3 Acro colonies, one of which was bleached either before or during shipping. Two of the colonies were bigger but due to having to take off their bases in case unwanted pests such as AEFW or red bugs tagged along I had to break them off the best I could so currently my sand bed looks like a frag tank.

Also on my Anemones, I ended up losing my last multicolor Gigantea from the crash. I treated it for 7 days, it looked fine for the last 3 days in treatment but after a week in my DT it was sick again, round 2 of treatment it ended up never recovering. So I only have 1 H. Magnifica (Brown & White Tips), 2 S. Haddoni (Green & Blue) and 1 (Pink) LTA left.

A. Abrolhosensis or A. Spathulata, I think it's Spathulata.

No idea on ID on this one, maybe A. Valida or A. Secale?

So over the weekend I reaquascaped as my last aquascape was creating dead spots. If I didn't have a center overflow that wouldn't of been a problem but it was so here is the new aquascape, hope you like it. Pardon the frags all over the tank, coloring them up and I will be posting them for sale soon or trade for other acros locally, until then it's an eye sore.

I am glad that you still have the Green and Blue Haddoni. Still have the Magnifica and the Red LTA

Thanks Minh, I actually traded my LFS the green haddoni for part of the payment for the Blue Gigantea as my placement wasn't good for acropora and moving it wasn't an option due to the flow. All the other anemones are still here though. :)

Update:

I ended up losing the Blue Gigantea. After a week in DT it started to show signs of illness, I removed immediately to start treatment but after 9 days I ended up losing the battle. During this time my Blue Haddoni had deflated a few days before the Gigantea went into treatment and I'm still not positive as to why. All I can say is maybe his internals were messed up from the high pH levels and the 13 clownfish stressed him out too much to fully heal but I ended up getting him out of treatment. He looked good for another 5 days and started deflating again so I started treatment but this time it ultimately led to his death. I know it had to be of this reason because I have kept my tank parameters spot on.

I only have the red/pink LTA and the white tip/purple H. Mag left. I feel like the clownfish are sadly being too rough on the anemones I have left and I am going to be getting rid of the Harem as I am taking a break from adding anemones. After the last few months of battling a losing battle due to the crash it's made me lazy/unpassionate about the hobby which I've never felt before. I'll be replacing the clowns with an A. Bicinctus pair. I plan on doing a picture update later today when I get home from work, which will probably be my last update to this thread on where the tank is at after the crash and my new direction due to it.
