Juvenile Blueline angel keepers-question

So I pick up one of these little beauties a few months back, she is doing well and growing fast in my 60 gallon fuge and is quickly losing the juvenile colors.

Here is my question. My display tank is a standard 180 gallon and already houses a 6" majestic angel and a 5" meridithi, am I asking for trouble adding the blueline to this mix? She is about 3" and like I said is sporting the juvie color pattern. I'm not at all worried about biofiltration, they are all in the same system now, but I am very concerned about aggression, especially from the Meridithi which is in the same genus.

If I do add the fish now am I asking for more problems when the adult colors start to emerge? I have seen a lot of tanks with multiple angels that seem to get along but I do not want to risk this fish. Might the larger angels ignore the small blueline since it is still a juvie? TIA

Try introducing him in the tank using an acclimation box. Keep him in there for a few days and see how the other angels act around him.

I don't have any real large angels, but I do have 7 angels in my tank.

Including a young blueline.

I have a 6" Blueline and a 1.5" juvenile blue together with no problems. I also have a 3.5" bluespot and a larger mult-color in there as well. There is zero aggression between any of them. I also used a acclimation box. I really don't think you will have any problems.

Thanks for the replies, I think the acclimation box is a great idea and will try this soon. Awesome pictures there, your tanks look amazing.

I added my juvi bluelines to a 9" blueline, 6" meridith, 5" goldflake, 7" chrysurus and others with no issues. Only ones that the small bluelines had any issues with at first was a pair of potters.

I actually just ordered an acclimation box from them for a possible blueline im interested in buying.

Received mine today and the medium size has plenty of space for a small angel. The container is so clear my little angel is working very hard to swim through the bottom. Satisfy with the quality and may end up getting the large as well for larger fish. I'm sure you'll be glad when you get yours in.

Not sure if I saw the product through Austin's link above or Bradley's link from another thread. Thanks to both for the link!

Got mine too today... Its sweet! I got the 12x6x6 model.

I was concerned in using it in my QT that has copper and then using it in my DT sometime later. If I clean it well after its been in my QT for a day with some copper is it now only for use in that tank or is it washable and safe in my DT? I may just buy another for my main tank down the line.

I ordered the acclimation box from coralnuggets and it looks great, I ordered the 12x6x6 and they didnt have any in stock so Jim sent out a 12x4x4 and is shipping the 12x6x6 this week. Great customer service and a very nice product, I think I'm going to move the blueline this week and I will try to get some pics.

Well here goes, the blueline is in her condo in the display tank and so far none of the fish seems too upset. The only fish who is checking her out at all is my filefish. Any ideas on how long till the fish get used to her? TIA

Just keep your eye on your saifin tang and other angels. They would be the ones that might object to the blueline. My purple tang is my enforcer of my tank.

This is day 4 in the fishy condo and all of the fish I was concerned about have totally ignored the blueline and none of my fish has shown any aggression at all so far. The majestic is top dog with the sailfin a close second but I was most concerned with the meredithi being so closely related to the BL. I do have lots of rock and smaller hiding places so think this will work, keeping fingers crossed.

Release the hounds! Just turned the BL loose about a half an hour ago and all is well so far. She swam right up to my meridithi, majestic, and sailfing tang and puffed herself up as big as she could and tried to show them who was boss. It didn't work but they paid her no mind whatsoever, just like she had been in the tank forever. The only trouble so far has been with the yellowtail blue damsels, the female isn't having any of the BL getting within a foot of her nest. She is the only angel in the tank that could actually swin in there and get the eggs. The BL is already running the male yellowtail off but the female is still giving the BL the business. Seeing her in the display makes me realize how much the BL has grown in the last few months.

Well the little blueline settled right in and has pretty much made the tank her home. I dont know if anyone has ever encountered this but the move has seemed to jump start the transformation from juvie to adult. She had kind of "stalled" and didn't seem to be color changing much in the refugium. Once she hit the main tank she seems to be changing at a very rapid pace and the last of her juvie colors are melting away, anyone ever see this?

Mine has almost tripled in size over the last year. Very healthy and eats a ton. Nips at a few acros, but nothing major. Very well behaved with my other fish.
